Undaunted set pieces and their abysmal drop rates

OK first off I am fairly new to pve on ESO however I have ran 15+ dungeon gold pledges on my main now. To this point I have not gotten a single shoulder piece through my key . Now I understand this is a fairly small sample size bit I personally feel this is a ridiculous drop rate. This has nothing to do with head drops. Honestly if head drops were 5% chance that is fine as they can be farmed. However having a shoulder piece that can drop in 8 different set pieces with 9 different traits and 3 different armor types that can only be attempted once per day AND HAS LESS THAN A 10% chance to drop at all is kinda ridiculous. I propose giving silver keys a 5-10% chance at random shoulder and also increase gold drop rate to approximately 25%. This would give a better chance at this game changing gear and give reason to run non vet pledge other than undaunted points. Please devs share your thoughts on this and help out a player who just wants a monster set. Lol

Are you VR14? Cause if I'm not mistaken you can only get it if you're VR14.

And yes, the drop rates suck.

Yes I am vr14 however that does not affect it as I have a Templar healer who is vr3 who I have gotten my only shoulder drop on. Which was bogdans if I'm not mistaken. It drops at the lvl ur chara is when u turn in the key.

This is just my experience but maybe it will work for you too. I make sure I have two (2) gold keys before I open the chest. More often than not my second attempt nets me a shoulder. Have gotten almost all my shoulders this way.

Insightful, after doing 100+ runs

After getting a few under my belt now only Nere'ith shoulders seem to drop for me, ive got 4 of them now and only 1 other. RNG in games needs to be removed, let us earn it, work for it or players will get frustrated and stop playing.

I've never gotten a monster helmet, ever! And i've done lots of veteran pledges and a few farming runs, very demotivating.

Personally I think the drop rate is fine - and this is coming from a PvPer. These are amongst the best two piece sets in the game, they shouldn't be easy to obtain. Everyone comes to the forums moaning about things in the game and basically asking ZOS to make everything easier. Some things have to be a challenge, otherwise what is the point?

I am perfectly fine with challenges.however obtaining these sets is TEDIOUS,not challenging.
If going into vet dailies with a random group had a high chance of failure, a high chance of beeing unable to finish the dungeon... then obtaining these sets would be a challenge (and I would probably not have one - and be happy)
As it is though, one needs to run those dungeons a couple hundred times while almost brain-afk.which again, is tedious, not challenging. It however means I own some of these set pieces, an am anoyed bythe thought of trying for the ones i really want...

Challenging in this context means not giving up during the mindless grinding of the dungeons, I guess.

If there is absolutely no grinding, people will start complaining that there is no content. They can't release content every week. Not saying ZOS have been particularly fast at releasing new content, but I understand the low drop rate for these 2-piece sets. They've already improved the drop for shoulders, though.

That said, I've run vet Fungal 3x today and still no helm. I've never once gotten Spawn of Mephala head piece Damn you, RNG, damn youuuuu!

I don't mind the RNG now as i love doing the dailies, so helms/shoulders are a nice bonus if i get them. However, i would like to get less mephala shoulders pls, they seem common as muck, for me atleast. The set is garbage anyway. Was slightly miffed yesterday as i got 2 mephala shoulders and one group member got the maw shoulders(he decon'd) which i've been wanting for ages. Would love a trade window between group members who done the dungeon together though.

Why is there people on every thread defending RNG with the argument that if the RNG is removed people will complain about a lack of content? Wake up people! There is a lack of Content! The champion system added 2 grinds (champion system and Legerdemain). How long has it been since a new zone, dungeon, trial, or PVP content was added? Best part is you won't see any new content till after consoles.

Grinding is not content. It's a filler.

A filler making real life so dull for many people... yet getting more of that in games... games they pay because they wanted something different than the tediousness they get in real life.

I had no problems with the monster sets but with that said RNG is salty bitc*. I can certainly understand why players not as lucky would want to see the RNG improved, it's a pain in the arse.

@Septimus_Magna the valk skoria head drops in city of ash, not the pledge dungeons

Yeah but it's a fully charged heavy attack now isn't it? Whereas before 1.6 it would proc of a medium attack, even though it said fully charged heavy attack.

I turned in 4 gold keys as VR2/3 (I know, stupid) and got a heavy and light shouldee with only 2 set boni

Ive gone at least 12 days of gold pledges without a helmet or shoulders and when I get shoulders its the mf'ing bogdan set again -_- they just need to put in a trader where you can trade X amount of shoulders for one of your choosing even if its with a random trait. Oh and did I mention Ive done vet darkshade caverns gold 50 times and only had the helmet drop once... and it was Light Well-fitted and I am a tank -_- The drop rates are crap.

I remain an advocate of an Undaunted Currency instead of the drop rate. I mean, hey sure keep having great pieces drop, but why not have alternative pieces you can pick up by earning enough of the Undaunted Marks?

Going to agree here. It's even more frustrating when the only runs you get of the vet pledges are in pugs. Pugs are mixed bags for sure. But patience is hard to have when you've gone into (insert pledge dungeon here) for the 8th time in one day, only to fail it... again.

Those of us relying on pick up groups and essentially unguilded are having a much rougher time obtaining pieces. That's not even starting to count getting the peice with a trait and designation you are after.

I've gotten a Blood Spawn Set so far. Have numerous shoulders for all the sets. About 30 pieces sitting in my bank total. The blood spawn helm isn't the one I'm looking for, and is only VR5 because that's all that group could handle.

Very frustrating...

Yes I know, Ive run vet CoA about 15 times and never got the head. The shoulders do drop from gold pledges thats why I mentoined it.

I'm so demoralized I don't even do pledges any more.

I finally got some shoulders from the CoH set and then began running that dungeon to get the helm.

I ran Crypt of Hearts OVER 40 TIMES and never had the helm drop.

I begged friends from multiple guilds. In the end I saw player after player (over the course of weeks) be awarded MULTIPLE drops of the helm. Even multiples of the same trait and weight combinations. We would group up and do 6 or 8 runs in a row each night, several times a week for a number of weeks.

But this game doesn't have a token system or a Need-Greed system. So, I had to BEG people to run the dungeon with me over and over again when they had no reason or desire to do so and watch them get 4 helms while I get none.

F' THAT! F' THAT NOISE ENTIRELY!

Edit: I originally said over 50 times. But to be perfectly honest...I didn't keep track when I first started. But I know I did it at least 20 times with each guild after I started getting pissed off.

To have such a random drop rate and variation in items is terrible.

To make it once a day is worse.

To not make them tradeable is unforgiveable.

This content is the absolute worst kind of grind for me (as someone with comparatively little time to play), which means I will only ever do it if a guild mate needs help. I design my gear around crafted sets rather than put myself through the stress some people in this thread have demonstrated.

Please can we have tradeable items or a token system? (those people with good jobs will thank you in other ways).

This is supposed to be fun and rewarding, the current version is not

Might just be in my head but seems like skoria helm drop rate was lowered (not sure if intentional) since monday. I've only seen 1 helm drop in the group in 16 runs since monday. Before this patch I was seeing atleast 1 helm for the group every 4 runs. As for gold pledge keys, drop rate seems the same, just never get the ones you want.

I have 3 different shoulders now...and I run a vet pledge maybe once a week or so. VR 7..so make of that what you will.

The drop rates are actually much better than they used to be. I've multiples of everything but one helm at this point.

Getting a version is easier (% wise) than it used to be.

Getting the version is another story.
