ZOS, please change the system to obtain the Monster-sets.Thx.

Tethys
Tethys
Hey. PvP'er talking here.

I am pretty frustrated. I spent hours and hours during the last months doing daily pledges for the golden keys. WHICH I FREAKIN HATE DOING! I HATE PVE! SO MUCH! I .... CAN'T.... EVEN...DESCRIBE! And the RNG-god appears to hate me as much as i hate on PvE. So i got 6 shoulders of 1 set. And 5 of another. Both of which are totally useless to me.

At the state this game is currently in you need certain sets to be competitive in PvP. Unfortunately, Monstersets are part of that. I am getting more frustrated every day because of the drop-algorythm of the golden Undaunted chests, or the inability to obtain the shoulders in another way.
Before the haters gonna hate: I know, it is about luck. But in this case you can't force luck by grind. And you can be unlucky as well. Meaning: if you have done a hundred golden pledges with one char, the chances are about 33% that you just didn't get it by that amount of runs. That's a freakin hundret days we are talking about. Yea, true math genius behind this keyboard.

And no, i don't want to discuss the significance of the set's impact on fights here. Neither the quality of PvE and dungeons, which is good, just nothing for me. So ZOS, can you please re-write that algorythm of yours (maybe to something dependant of previous drops?) or give us the chance to get the shoulders in any other way than spending one hour a day of mindless PvE'ing just to find yourself without anything useful after another full year of ESO?

Thanks for reading through this mess, have a nice day everyone. /ragequit.

@Tethys edit the OP to make more sense, I see caps and rage, and parenthesis... It hurts man... It hurts my brain.

My solution to this pile of nonsense is as follows.

Complete Gold Pledge - Get A Point (Bound to Account)

Ten Points - Enough For One Shoulder

Fifteen Points - Enough For One Helmet

Find Vendor - Spend Points On What YOU Want.

Problem solved. I'll take that cookie now

Adjusted some stuff you were right about, but couldn't get rid off all the rage and therefore caps.

Your system is a good idea, but i think it has been suggested a couple of times already and since it is wirking fine in so many other games ZOS just can't use that. They have to come up with something of their own.

Rather than bland points that don't have any context or connection to the game world, how about the bosses drop rare/special "ingredients" that you can take to an NPC at the Earth Forge, where they can custom make you the piece you want. This way, you have to complete the FG quest line, and the items still reflect the bosses you had to kill, and you still would have to run the dungeon multiple times to get the ingredients you needed for helm or shoulders. Sure, under the hood it's essentially the same, but it's just tied into the game world in a much better way.

100% agreed. If you want to get more chances, ESO is very lax in its loot system by allowing you to simply transfer items between characters with the bank, anyway. Run the pledges on more than just your main toon if you want to increase the odds of getting what you want more quickly.

I prefer a mix of the RNG and a "token system". That is because I have a finish line, a hard set Goal to reach. There is not a continuous dangling of the carrot in front of my nose. I can Know when I get something, and if I get it along the way... Yay, RNG is less evil in that situation!

#1) BoE will solve all these problems. Grind for gold, buy what you need, sell what you don't.

#2) If BoE is out of the question, then make these veteran dungeons solo-able and repeatable without any daily limit.

Either way, players like the OP will at least have a reasonable path to accomplish their goals.

    Replace RNG with accumulator.

    15% chance.
    15+15+15+15+15+15 = 90%
    90+15 = drop @ 7th attempt + 5% carry

At the end of the day the RNG is there to simulate chance.
    Chance is a given %.
But that % is supposed to be accurate.
So why bother with RNG ?

Monster sets are not required to be "competitive" in PvP. I'm more than competitive and don't find the people using these sets to be all that powerful either. IMO they're weaker than people think because they limit a lot of your set options by taking 2 armor slots. I hate PvE too and only do the Dailies for the passive armor bonuses.

Really? What about the PvP-only gear that costs 248.000 AP per piece? Many builds require or benefit greatly from PvP Elite gear, and I've had to farm quite a few AP to get them. In my case, I don't mind PvPing. But someone with a loathing of PvP similar to your loathing of PvE would be in the same spot.

how about combing RNG and a Token system...

Instead of potentially getting a monster item.. you potentially get a token you can spend on a monster item of choice and then the traits and armor of the item of choice is randomzied.

so you might get a token from the chest,

    then you talk to Vender..

you choose say COA Coffer and get a random traited and armor typed Skoria Shoulder piece
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

Agreed, which is why I suggested bosses dropping "ingredient(s)" that remove 2 of the RNG nests. Once you get the necessary ingredient(s) for, say, medium Malubeth helm with reinforced trait, you can then go to an Undaunted Forgemaster and have her/him craft you what you desire.

I don't accept the premise that, "You need the monster sets to be competitive in PvP." Some builds make excellent use of the, but there are alternatives.

You may, however, need the Undaunted Passives to be considered top-end. Happily, those are not RNG. They just take quite a lot of time in dungeons, a pretty enormous investment for those who like to stay in PvP. I suppose pure PvE players may look at some of the Assault/ Support skills the same way, however.

I think the core game design heavily encourages people to play both PvP and PvE, if they want all the best abilities and gear.

These pledges are not the only place that RNG bites the big one. I have run about 100+ AA and a similar number of HRC and have yet to fill out my healing mage set while getting at least 3 of every other set piece in the loot table.
Similarly, I have run 75+ VDSA and have yet to see a V14 master resto staff drop (for me at least) of any trait. I have deconstructed 4 master I've staves, 2 master fires, 1 master lightning, 3 master greatswords, 2 master bows, 2 master swords, I still have 2 of each... At this point, every time I loot that chest at the end, I get closer and closer to throwing my computer our of the window. VDSA is very time consuming and I really feel as if I definitely have earned that flipping staff.
I would love a token system so people like me who obviously have the RNGod's displeasure can get what they want eventually.

I know when I finally get that staff, it's going to be charged.
