Exact Same Area, Exact Same Setting, 50 fps difference, Almost SOLVED

So Literally played about 5 hrs last night, 60-100 fps at all times. Combat, non combat, you name it.

Logged in where I left this morning aand 21 fps. 25 tops, drops to 15 in combat.

I believe I have all the rights to ask WHY? or HOW ? What could possibly happen to make this happen?

Brand new laptop here btw, i7 , 860 GTXM and 8 GB ram, got it 4 days ago.

EDIT: The problem was the bloatware comes with the laptop, I havent been able to identify which one but when I disable all,I hit 100 fps, so I am working on which particular startup bloatware causing this, I feel like more ppl out there needs to know about this.

EDIT2:The problem is and was the HDMI cable, but in an interesting way

FPS + it being new means you may have something running locally. File sync progs like Dropbox, one drive and MSFT patch updates... Especially if you just bought your laptop, chances even higher it's on your end. Make sure and remove all bloat ware and spin down all the unnecessary services. Plus 8 GB of RAM is actually very low these days and recc 16 minimum, although that's unlikely to be the cause / issue. Also new systems have built in maint and scheduled update routines like TRIM and defrag, make sure these aren't running when you're playing. If you're a techie you prob know all this, but most people don't and just roll with the default setup of a new machine which is usually full of bloat. Less of an issue these days because hardware is so much faster now, but still worth checking.

Would that include Google Drive sync app? I also use some system monitoring apps like iStat and Memory Clean, do you think those would contribute to framerate drops?

Will try and do a comparison playing while they are running and without. Thanks for the insight!

Install MSI Afterburner and look at your GPU usage.
If it least than 50% and you got ~25fps it's the game issue.

Laptops are just not designed to be gaming machines so you get these strange bottlenecks in places and sometimes it takes a bit of tweaking to smooth things out. I travel a lot so I've had my share of trying to squeeze all that can be out of laptops. I use a Razor Blade now and it's best I've had overall to date.

Yes on the google drive sync being one of those potentially. These apps periodically wake-up and check locally for changes and uploads what is found. Some are written well and not intrusive, some are not. If you have an SSD, then it's probably not the cause though.

System monitoring software if written poorly can be the most impactful and you really only want to run these things ad-hoc (antivirus/intrusion the exception).

Hope you're able to figure it out and that it's within your control vs. ZOS :)

All this things like antivirus, system monitoring and other background apps can not affect fps at all.
It can affect loading times, textures loading, other memory/cpu dependent processes.
NV GTX860m is just enough to have 30+ fps in game with ultra settings.
My opinion that is just game didn't use GPU at full power sometimes.

I checked, I deleted the only anti virus that came with the laptop, no change at all.

I dont know if it is the game or the laptop and I do not know if there is a way to find out.

Settings last night was 1920 res, High Subsample, Medium texture and low shadow with everything else default. I had about 70 fps average, 100 in dungeons and 65 open world combat.

Now I drop it to medium sub sample and only get about 26-33 in open world.

I checked everything, other games seems to be just fine, thats just annoying with no reason, if thats 33 fps what am I gonna get on pvp combat, probably crash WTF.

I had the same problem not so long ago, turned out I watched some *stuff* overnight and got myself some virus/Data mining program on my computer that was soaking all my cpu's power off to somewhere else.

Id look into the task manager, hold CTRL-SHIFT + ESC.

Look for stuffs that are using more than 1% of your cpu's power and Check them out, I mean, look at the name... look it up. If it has a strange name, or if it shouldn't be opened. right click it and do END TASK.

I personally had *Steam_clientx32 that was soaking a large part of my CPU.

May my advice serves you well.

I am looking at it, and I cant see anything, even when the game is running, everything seems normal.

I am trying other games right now, they work fine on ultra settings such as medivial warfare or hearos of the storm.

Now my fps is around 10 so I can not play any more, and this is on medium settings, I have a high end systems, this is ridiculous , idk why is it doing this.

Do not search any further. Zenimax servers can't handle the broken game they try to support. That's it it is not you it is all them.

I appreciate all of you guys comments, I tried to give so many chances to this game, even changed 2 laptops but seems like I need to give up until further clear assistance.

its way less than that, and fps is getting worse and worse, as if right now I have like 5 fps on low settings lol
yesterday I had 85 on high, tomorrow God knows, thats gotta be the game.

maybe your laptops are frying... they're well ventilated?

other than that I don't know. Keep at it you'll eventually find out whats causing this.

(have you tryed deleting the config file or something like that? it resets all your video/audio/binds but it fixed some stuff for me when i had trouble. Check it out you'll find info on that if you search a bit)

Yea Zenimax figured it out, its the bloatware that comes with the laptop startup items and its litereally eating about 80 fps , I have been making some progress to delete them but its a battle.

Glad to hear it's improving... The bloatware will certainly do it. @LameoveR we can agree to disagree.

The problem is and was the HDMI cable, but in an interesting way.

    Here is exactly what happens:

Game starts, Laptop connected to HDMI and to TV via cable. Lid is closed. 17 fps. Freezes and stuff.
OPEN THE LID, now 2 screens are on at the same time. 85-100 Fps.
Close the lid, 17. Open the lid 100.
So could there be a settings about closing the lid affecting somehow power settings ? Because even if I select high performance power options on windows, this whole lid deal may be changing that setting to balanced which is dropping the energy?

Some laptops have this built-in power-saving that when the lid is closed, they lessen the power usage.
You may be able to change it from BIOS.

Check where the air vents are when you do this.. If when the screen is open, the fan sends hot air upwards, into the area inbetween the keyboard and the screen, you may not want to do this.. under load all that heat is going to stay right on your screen and keyboard, i have caused physical damage to a MacBook screen by running games with the lid down.

Another way to check power is via windows mobility center.. win+x (win+x then b in windows 8). You can force high performance there.. on laptops it does make a difference.

Like the above says, your laptop is probably overheating if you close the lid with it on since much of the heat is vented through the keyboard. I've seen batteries explode from this before, it's not a pretty sight.
