Ugh...stop mixing cultures in this game.

I don't know how often i've mentioned it but every time i come across it it's just making me roll my eyes at the people who came up with it.
All the mixing up of the cultures is just annoying. An argonian praising Almsivi in Mournhold, 80% of quest relevant "couples" being mixed between species, orcs and bretons, dunmer and argonians.... just stop. There is a point to having one culture, one race and one religion, and it just pointless mixing them up.
This isn't real life !!!
The Separation of these things gives character and identity to the races which, when put together on a grand scale makes Tamriel what it is.
I'm just waiting to see a Dunmer with a lizard tail or a Breton with Orcs fangs.
Keep the real world where it is and keep Tamriel where it was for more than a decade.

Why do you think this wouldn't happen, even in an imagined world? It'd seem even more jarring if you had separatist racial camps or cities imo.

*goes and plays morrowind and enters the first town* Huh, weird, there are actually more of NON-Dunmer races in several of the towns then there are Dunmer, despite Morrowind being the Region of the Dunmer.

*goes and plays Oblivion* huh, while there ARE a lot of imperials, there is one town mostly with Dunmer, and another filled mostly with nords.

What was this about racial seperation again?

True, it's not RL, but having some level of blending between cultures makes it more real.

Realism v.s. Reality.

One is real, the other could be real. Arbitrarily and completely isolating cultures from each other makes the world less believable. Especially considering how much interaction has been taking place between the races up to this point.

Also I think this 80% interracial coupling thing is an exaggeration. I've been doing every quest I can find and most couples are dunmer-dunmer, khajiit-khajiit, etc. What mixed couples do exist are not unprecedented either. The other ES games and lore are littered with examples.

And as far as tailed Dunmer and orc tusked Bretons are concerned, this was already covered in the lore. uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Racial_Phylogeny

...half Orc's are a large part of many game cultures... why would that be weird. Also I'm not sure how argonian anatomy works but there is always the possibility of love affairs that cannot produce children based on species...soo. *shrugs* I like the variety!

Another part of this is that ESO takes place during a time period when the 3 races are working strongly together in each alliance thus it makes much more sense that there is a variety of "interaction" between the races.

That's what I disagree with. It's not consistent with other Elder Scrolls games to segregate cultures. If they did it in ESO, the world (to me) would be flat and uninteresting. The diversity and multiculturalism is one of the aspects that make this game feel alive and colourful.

I've pretty much done almost all three alliances now (only have reaper's march left), and I've only seen maybe at most ten interracial couples while questing. Considering that's from all three storylines, that's really not that much.

Saying that 80% of couples are interracial...lolno. Maybe 10% would be believable.

TESV: Skyrim alone probably had more race mixing than this game does.

The forums are a place for discussing LORE in a GAME. However, the OP is not referencing anything lore based or otherwise that I can see. The majority of the responses are.

That may very well be, but since the lore of ESO (not even talking of the other TES games) has three factions with races of said factions working hand in hand, obviously there would be intermingling if only for that reason alone. That is not even taking into consideration a real world feel, simply going by lore of THIS game.

There is one quest (I forget where or the name of it) where you have to find some (human/elf) woman's missing husband and it turns out the husband is an Argonian.

Now, I'm all for mixed race / same sex relationships etc. but this quest felt a bit forced to me. I dunno... it just seemed more like bestiality than a valid inter-racial relationship.

The Argonians are so different in all aspects of their physiology (The Hist,laying eggs etc) that it just seemed too far-fetched that a "human" (Nord/Elf/Breton whatever) would actually think of marrying one. I don't want to get into the dumb argument that "same-sex marriage will lead to people marrying their dog", because obviously Argonians are capable of giving consent (unlike animals), but still... we're not just talking inter-racial relationship here - we're going full-on incompatible inter-species.

Just my 2c.
