Craglorn? Or Veteran Zone Questing?

I just hit VR ranks recently and have the quest to visit Craglorn. I do not know much if anything about Craglorn. Is this a high VR place? Should I continue with Cadwells Silver then gold before heading to this area? Is it a dungeon? Questing zone? I found no information on it and have no tips in game on what its purpose is, so I assume it is for high level VR players?

Craglorn is a questing zone originally designed for high veteran rank characters (max level was VR10 at the time). It's mostly group content, including delves and quests. You can go there solo later when you're stronger - or right away with a group. But solo as VR1 there isn't much to do except harvesting (nodes in Upper Craglorn have a chance to spawn nirncrux) and writ turn-in.

I recommend doing Cadwell's Silver first, you'll get a few levels and more skill points. But you can at least take a look at Craglorn and see if you can find something for yourself there. :)

Is it a place I can try out around VR3 or should I hit VR10+ Before going?

That all depends on what style of play you like. If you like Soloing and questing then go do the Cadwells Silver and gold. The quests are fun and it lets you explore new areas as well. If your just in a hurry to get to V14, try and find a Craglorn grind group. My wife and I really enjoyed the other zones with the Cadwell quests. More doleman, delves, dungons etc. It was a blast.

craglorn used to be nothing but a pathetic grind zone.

Nowadays it has gotten better. It is a regular zone with Vr10ish plus enemies; designed for group questing. It is also where the trials are located, which are 12 player raids.

Disclaimer: I love Craglorn. My VR characters hang out there unless they are doing something else. I have imposed a barrier on them that they have to defeat Molag Bal before they can begin the quest line (with the exception of guild activities.)

Craglorn is an Adventure Zone designed mainly for group play. This does not mean that you can't solo a good chunk of it, but it is going to be challening.

The zone is divided into Upper and Lower Craglorn. You can tell where you are by the level of the mobs. Lower Craglorn they are V11, Upper Craglorn they are V13.

There are a number of group delves in Craglorn which allow a group of up to 4 players to enter. Each of them has a Skyshard, and killing the dungeon boss will give you the achievement for completing that delve. All delves in each zone are visited if you are doing the Craglorn questlines (more on those shortly), but killing the bosses is not required for completion of the quests.

There are a number of Daily Quest locations as well. Those are quite fun to do and the quests are repeatable. In Lower Craglorn there are Shada's Tear, Rahni-Za School of Warriors, Elhinir and Seeker's Archive. In Upper Craglorn the daily quests centre around the Valley of Scars and killing some of the overworld bosses, as well as the Gray Passage quest, which asks you to pray at 6 shrines in various dungeons within a 2-hour time frame. And there is also Skyreach, which is divided into Skyreach Hold, Skyreach Catacombs and Skyreach Pinnacle, each with their own daily quest.

    Questlines:

Lower Craglorn has a questline of 4 quests that can be done in any order, which will unlock a final quest (you can find that under the Achievement Celestial Investigator). Upper Craglorn has a series of 2 + 1 quests that you will find under Serpents and Secrets. The questline is quite interesting and if you like reading dialogue make sure that you are with a group that does the same.

Once you have finished the Upper Craglorn questline, you will get an item that has the nirnhoned trait on it.

There are also several world event sites where you fight waves of mobs with a particular objective. In Lower Craglorn you have the Anomalies and the Anka-Ra burial sites, and in Upper Craglorn you have the Nirncrux Mines (which don't give you any nirncrux). These are fun to do in a group, but they don't give you a ton of XP.

You do not have to be V10 plus to start the questlines or clear dungeons. I started my main there at around V6, but my sorc started the quests at V2 and ended Lower Craglorn at V5, with a group that consisted mainly of V2-V5 toons.

So it really is up to you what you feel like doing. And nothing keeps you from doing both things at the same time. :-)

The quests are not really giving a decent XP per hour at the moment. They are fun and challenging but if you are looking for a good xp pace to level, caldwell's is really the only game in town at the moment. I have heard they are adjusting the XP for some things on Monday but we'll see.
I'm kind of a small deal!
