Restoring Aura question

After I have cast restoring aura I seem to do the casting animation over and over, anytime someone comes into proximity for the buff.
Is this intended? It screws up my combat when that animation cancels my heavy attack or another ability I'm trying to cast/channel. And if it is working as intended than this ability is horrible because of it's disruptive nature.
