Do You think ZOS will give up on PVP like Bioware did ?

For those of you that didn't know , Bioware had an entire planet in SWTOR dedicated to PvP , Ilum . After a year straight of performance problems on Ilum , mostly lag , the project was abandoned and left as is . After losing 200K + subs over the debacle the game went completly free to play . Those developers put all their time and energy into war zones and content release after words . The servers to this day can't handle any organized large scale pvp any where so Ilum was left as is . Knowing that ZOS has had no luck in increasing performance in Cyrodiil (ZOS's version of Ilum) , do You think developers may just drop it as a unrepairable wasteland ? I see a echo in the force . History doesn't repeat itself , it rhymes ... What do You think ?

    The problem with pvp lag is zergs, they need to discourage zerging. Perhaps nerfing AP gains to near nothing for large groups, make AP gains next to nothing for zerging keeps, force people into smaller groups to spread stuff out.

    As it stands right now this game just encourages zerginh which just makes the server lag problems worse. Discourage zerging and most of the lag problems will go away imo

    They've pretty much ignored all non class related items in Cyrodiil. And a lot of class/ability related ones too. The only things they actually changed have been Forward Camps, which weren't broke as far as I'm concerned, and Flaming Oil, which also wasn't broke...the lag, fps and ping related issues are worse than ever. Sure they removed deer but that was a joke of epic proportion and did nothing to help. No one in their right mind would think it would help. The issues in Cyrodiil didn't happen in between keeps by random deer. They happen anytime large groups of players attack each other with certain abilities that are known to break the game. ZOS has done nothing to fix that.

    So, in short, they've spent the last 11 months having us pay to beta test the console release and the rest of time has been spent on the Crown Store. They added the Justice System which is PVE content, which isn't going to lift everyone's kilt, just like removing Forward Camps didn't lift every PVP'ers kilt.

    I honestly don't think there is a solution just like with Ilum . We've been suggesting these sort of things since launch and no results . I think if there was a fix , ZOS would have put it out . I just think it's too far buried in the code now to address and wonder if they will just abandon large scale pvp fixes all together like TOR did after a year .

    ESO fps out of combat in Cyrodiil is 60. In combat it still drops below 10. Which isn't playable.
    LOTRO fps out of combat in Ettenmoors is 200. In combat it drops to only 30. Which is plenty playable.

    I realize that LOTRO is older but if they can make it work so can ESO.

    To be fair, what Bioware did was a straight up Cash grab by saying "Hey we have this awesome Open PvP zone"

    Even though it took all but 10 minutes of playing in anything past 16 people to realize the games FPS would drop to like 10.

    Not to mention how pitiful that little area was.

    ZOS at least tried to mimic DAOC

    Me either ! If I was ZOS I would sink every penny into getting Cyrodiil 100% . Then worry about new content .

    The fix was simple, as it was simple in the case of Ilum.

    Upgrade. Your. Servers.

    Also, get rid of zerging, by making the Detonation skill do an upwards of 500-1000% more damage when people group up and zerg, problem solved.

    Posts like this is the reason why sometimes I wish we had a LOL button. Don't get me wrong, I want to see thieves guild and dark brotherhood as much as the next guy, but what the hell is up with the 'I do hope that they stop focusing on PVP'? I honestly can't even remember the last time they focused on PVP. What was the last thing that was PVP-focused?

    then go play skyrim, they marketed this game for it's PvP... There was war in your other precious games too, there just weren't multiple people playing it at one time, so there was no way to have PvP. Go back to the RP section dude

    Large scale open world pvp? I wish this game had that, all this game is right now is one giant zerg fest. Its just going to get worse. Their is no pvp in this game, just zerging...This game doesn't reward skillful players, it rewards zerging.

    They need to significantly lower AP gains in groups, no in terms of players in proximity....any more then 25 people in a certain raiduis results in zero AP, they need to stop this damn zerging, its ruining the server, lagging the server, and destroying real PVP...the only way to discourage this zerging nonsense is to take away the benefits of doing it....when you get no AP for zerging, it don't make sense to zerg because you want AP right.

    I'd like to have a skillful game, but this encouragement of Zergs is not going to let that happen. 12-18 man groups of skilled players isn't a zerg, 25-35+ players i see on a nightly basis are zergs, and in those cases the AP gain should be zero...it should make more sense to run alone or in smaller groups spreading out fights on this huge map, and in doing this, you will force folks to spead out so they do earn AP...show up and take that keep with 30 of your freinds outside? you gain 15 AP, or you could take 5 of your buddies and go fight someplace else and gain a few thousand AP, take your pick...discourage these large zergballs with lowered AP gains, and we will get real pvp instead of this lagging zerging nonsense we have now.

    Think time and more specifically the imperial city will tell. Cyrodiil for sure has been in maintenance mode for quite some time now and is still worlds apart from something that I happily set my foot in. Considering CU isn't that far away either and the PvP populace has dwindled, I wouldn't be surprised to a see a shift in focus even in regards to Cyrodiil and IC.

    I'm running low on SP however, so if there's anyone around who'd be willing to drag a reluctant crafter to the battlefields to earn a few ranks, I might be willing to 'bolster' your numbers... sadly, still can't see any other incentive than that.

    If you want an Elder Scrolls game, you should stick with any of the previous titles. This may have the name, along with settings with familiar names, but I would hardly call it an Elder Scrolls game.

    That is kinda of short sighted . . . the reason people keep holding onto ESO PvP is because it offers a extrememly fun experience the way it was designed and if you look at all the patch notes CYrodil and PvP have been given low priority . . . For this game to go forward both PvE and PvP systems need to be robust . .. I've introduced people to PvP who only considered themselces PvEers and noe they ar diehard PvPers

    I don't understand the hatred for 'zerging' tbh. Sure, when its 50v5 then its justified, but some of the most epic battles I've had in ESO have been 2/3 factions full populations clashing head on (before the lag, obviously).

    What do you expect from an open world PvP zone with keep battles and bottlenecks?

    If every fight was 5v5 or smaller, cyrodiil would be boring as hell. Might as well make arena, delete cyro and call it a day.

    The huge battles are what made esos PvP awesome, its just sad that the hardware couldn't keep up with their vision for cyrodiil.

    If you want small scale fights, then you have more opportunities now than ever before, with the removal of forward camps forcing people to run back to the fight after dying. Be patient, stake out enemy reinforcement lines, wait outside their front line keeps/outposts.

    If their servers could handle the load properly, zerging would be a non-issue. In fact, it would make for more epic battles, and fulfil their pre-launch promise of large scale siege warfare.

    It is not the zerging alone causing the lag. It is from, what I can tell playing on Thornblade, primarily groups from EP.
    I am not whining about them leading the campaign -- I could care less.
    I still have the purple crap from the last on to decon.

    Does ZOS even monitor Cyrodiil? It would seem to me that the way to find problems there would be to monitor certain red groups to see what they are doing. I know I'm getting close to that asinine rule about naming and shaming, especially since it seems to be somewhat inconsistently applied ( referring to TKO here ), but we have much larger battles in open fields and keeps with DC without the lag. But when a dozen red show up....

    I really want this game to work, I came from Skyrim and enjoy this even more than that, and I spend most of my time in Cyrodiil with TKO, but something must be done to fix the game or maybe just roll everything back to what it was at launch.

    'War' in Skyrim: 3 NPCs fight 3 other NPCs and the game runs fine.
    'War' in ESO: 50 players fight 50 other players and the entire server breaks down.

    I know who was the smartest developer.
