So apparently there is a system where if you heal someone who then goes around murdering everyone with a heal dot ticking then you rock up 27k bounty and if you die to a guard they will take your 17k gold and then leave you with 10k gold. That is stupid and I want my money back..... any system that an accident can leave you on 0 gold until you earn another 10k is utterly bull. So much for trying out the new system time to give it a break for another month -.-

Deactivate it in setting it seems it does work for healing too. Beside of that in 10min you will see 5000posts with :then don't heal anyone in a town. I had the same problem (well I paid the gold) because after I died and respawned at a shrine my heals I did before I die went off

Woah. That is some serious bad luck right there. You won't be forever in debt though. The bounty will get lower when time passes and you are not doing anything illegal. It works even if you are logged out. I had something like 3k bounty when I logged off last night and it was all gone in the morning.

Well I just logged on to test this system and used my refreshing path to run around not knowing that random people could walk over it and screw over your day. Didn't even know about the heal system.

Good to know, I often use Refreshing Path on my NB's in cities to move around a bit faster :scream:

Had no clue a skill could trigger a massive bounty, because a criminal stepped in it. My understanding was that disabling NPC attack would prevent this, 100% stupid proof. But If you got a bounty anyway, than something is wrong, sounds like a bug.

Guess I have to switch to Rapid Manoeuvre.

Can someone please clarify what is going on here, and is it not affected by setting the Prevent Innocents in gameplay settings?

It is affected. What's going on is that the OP logged in, didn't enable innocent protection and started testing his skills in town.

It's unfortunate and there should be a pop-up upon logging in for the first time about disabling the system, but if it stops a few people from casting AoEs all over the place in the future, then I love it.

It's really important to leave the criminal alone, and not help them! Unless you want to be a criminal of course! :) This is totally Lore friendly and anti-exploit.

So does this mean that even with innocents protected, if you heal a person with a bounty then you yourself gain a bounty?

Don't heal in towns. Don't spam aoe in towns. Simple as that. If you do, log off, or go elsweyr (...hahaxD) where no guards are arround. Thats it ;)

As a wise Bosmer once told me: "Did you buy your invisibility potions from a Bandarri?"

Or, as another one told me: "You are just not very good at this, are you?"
I now leave almost all my gold in the bank when I go on a crime spree. After all, how is a simple guard supposed to tell what gold is stolen and which was given by the Skald King for saving his life.

Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Love the new system. How hard can it be not to heal or attack others in town.

Our word for the day is......Empathy!

Empathy is the capacity to understand what another person is experiencing from within the other person's frame of reference, ie, the capacity to place oneself in another's shoes.

    Thanks for playing :)

Empathy is about understanding the other person's situation. Doesn't mean that you have to think their situation is indicative of the norm or requires changes in the system.

The OP has learned a valuable lesson about not spamming abilities in town. And this system works exactly as intended.

would probably help if the toggle that prevents you from accidentally killing an NPC also informed players that it does not prevent you from healing other players and if they are flagged as "outlaws" that you will be also .

To all the people saying "just don't heal in towns" you do know that there are some quests that make you fight enemies in towns, don't you? Off the top of my head there are 2 quests in Daggerfall where you have to fight within the town, 1 in Riften, 1 in Ebonheart, 1 in Aldcroft, 1 in Cormount... I'm sure there are others too.

So as long as heals aren't directly targeted "just don't heal in towns" is really stupid advice.

We brought that issue up on PTS .

Might want to feedback that in game as well.

I suspect those having the same issue as the OP are all using AOE heals instead of single target heals , leading to them accidentally healing "outlaw" players and getting flagged themselves .

The only fix i can think of is to restrict healing , and buff spells to party members only , while still having the game flag players as "outlaws" for healing a "outlaw" player , while in towns .
