Justice system is awesome!

Just wanted to pop in on the forums to tell Zenimax that the justice system is all that and a bag of chips.

I made a Nightblade a long while ago wanting to play her as a thief, but as there was no real "stealing," I had to play her like an assassin(I know you can play Nightblades differently, but it's the next best thing to thief I could think of). This new system has added new life to my long shelfed character and I thank you guys for the hard work you put into it.

Just made my first 10k the other day. Agreed that it is a fun system for making gold.

Yep. This added whole new dimension to the game. I am expecting all prices in guild shops should jump a lot because people have so much more money now.

Learn guard patrol routes, passes, roads and paths and the locations of the hideouts. When a guard spots you it isn't the end of the world. Invisibility potions are also a magical thing.

Exactly the same as the OP, i made a dirty, shifty little bosmer nightblade early on but what is life for a bosmer with nothing to steal? Basically I was thrown into Kierkegaard-like existential crisis every time I logged in

The unfortunate this is, you don't need to be a NB to steal, any class can. NBs don't even have a single advantage which seems a bit shortsighted imho.

In fact every class can perform BETTER than a NB just by drinking an invis. potion and going to town on those lockboxes (or any other stealable item). NBs have to use the same stupid potions because our ability breaks on steal....oh the stupidity.

I expected I would be busy grabbing c-points on the alts I had parked at the beginning of V1...

    ...but...

...I just couldn't resist doing a little breaking and entering on my main nightblade. One thing led to another, and I spent a lot of fun time stealing without getting caught! BIG thumbs up for justice from me! Can't wait until we also get TG and DB! And the PvP portion of justice.

Worst case what will happen - you can wait and bounty will decay with time. Play with another alt meanwhile.

Game option only prevents you from attacking innocents. If you heal a criminal (intended or not) you will incur a bounty. Stealing is still possible no matter what. The "off" button is only to ensure you don't attack innocents. :)

I love messing guards about. I have a 30k bounty on my head now for the 3rd day. I've managed to do 2 VR maps in DC area without a single death. Max i had was 3 guards chasing me despite their best efforts to snare me or capture me. (max med armor skills work like a charm, especially the epic sprinting speed and rolldodge bonus).
And when they are near edges of cliffs or drops, i do a knockback skill to push them over the edge and i LOL at their face and continue as if nothing has happened.

Having guards with godmode is one thing, but devs didn't bless them with much brainpower :P Most fun i've had for ages. Letting them chase me and messing them around is what i find most fun, rather than stealing or pickpocketing.
Though clearing a whole city of NPC's is fun too, hence my constant bounty xD

I know every class can be a thief, but Nightblades just scream stealthy, pickpocketing stabby stabby, but then again I'm a roleplayer through and through. A Templar to me is a righteous Knight, a Dragon Knight a stalwart warrior, and a Sorcerer is always nose deep in books and magic spells. I know there are multitudes of ways to play, but that's just the way I see things. :)

NB is... at best... marginally better at being stealthy. And, so you you know, you are actually talking against what the devs want. No class difference and all.

Edit: and... roleplayer... and you want to be pigeon holed into a role based on class... brilliant.

Turning invisible without needing a potion is a pretty major stealth boost to be fair. I agree that the nightblade class is more about the stabbing than the sneaking though

Whether you are a roleplayer or not has no bearing on whether you feel a class should have a significant bearing on a character's role... All it means is that when you have decided what your character is like, you play your character in a way that matches up with that. Deciding that a particular class fits a particular role, and then playing your character, and making decisions based on that role is a good example of a roleplayer. It's not the only way to go about it by a long shot, but it is one of the ways.

It really is an excellent system. As others have mentioned, smart criminals are rewarded, and with substantial amounts of gold.

The placement of lockboxes is also a major plus, as is the rewarding of skill with lockpicking. Those who are able to pick locks quickly can loot these boxes during the brief window when no one is looking and make off with valuable blue and purple items.

I also like how ZOS had the foresight to add a separate auto-loot option to owned containers. That was a HUGE plus for me; being able to auto loot normal stuff and also never worry about accidentally clicking a container without checking if it was owned and getting bounty because I wasn't sneaking. GG.

I am slowly getting better at pickpocketing, but need more practice/skill points/luck.

Can't wait for the next part of this awesome system. One suggestion would be that if a player has a bounty over a certain amount (say, over 250g), and another player kills them (once the PVP part is added) they will be able to collect the bounty the killed player had.

Also, I think it would be cool if the killed player's stolen goods became lootable by the player that killed them, but that doing so would transfer their bounty to you instead of letting you collect it.

That way, you could see whether collecting the bounty, or paying it off when it ended up on you but being able to sell off all their stolen goods yourself, would be worth more gold to you. ;)

I have to admit I am having a ball with the Justice System as well. However, after a few days of playing I took notice of the fact that once you Launder your goods, you can't trade/sell them to other players. :(

Being an avid role-player I found this hugely disappointing, because I had all kinds plans for things that could be done with the awesome props that the Devs implemented into the game.

Does anyone know if this was intentional, or a bug? I am sure I heard that once if you had laundered the goods they could be passed between players but I could be mistaken.

And if it was intentional what would be the point of laundering things?

Have a great day everyone! :)
