Steel Tornado or Whirling Blades

I'm theorycrafting a Sorcerer stamina build for 1.6. I understand the benefit of Steel Tornadoes increased radius, but is the stamina return from Whirling Blades worth taking for sustained fights?

When I used dual wield I tried out both of the skills, and the increase in radius does not really matter as you are already in melee range. Even if the stamina return isn't major, I think it's best to morph it into Whirling Blades. Doesn't look as cool as the other though.

Thank you, @Smepic. I appreciate the feedback.

I was thinking the same thing, however, I have seen people swear by Steel Tornado over the other. I'd like to get some dialogue going to discuss the two in detail.

I like Whirling Blades for doing solo content and most group PVE. I like Steel Tornado for Trials, PVP, and the harder PVE instances .... basically anywhere that I'm willing to use frequent potions.

For pvp steel tornado. Pve I don't think the stam return is needed but depends on the build I suppose.

seconding steel tornado for pvp, the extra radius is much needed for hitting multiple quick-moving players

I personally use WB because of the stamina return which, with the shift to stamina builds in 1.6 WILL be a major factor since you will be burning through stamina for almost everything now.

I also can't speak for ST but I can cast out multiple WB in secs with animation cancelling.

Too bad we can't have both morphs available for different builds.

In pvp steel tornado is better. Abilities with larger aoe's can be really strong if you have good positioning. Eg. If an enemy group is spamming impulse, you can stand more then 6m away from them and mitigate 100% of the damage, yet still hit them all with your steel tornado because of your larger radius.

I find I have even more sustain in 1.6, maybe it's just me

Steel tornado for sure, Whirl has small radius and the animation is slower, with steel tornado u can spam it faster, u can cancel it easier with either block or light attack and it covers a large radius hitting these annoying mages and archers.

Thank you, all, for the constructive feedback. As a sorcerer, I'm worried about stamina being my main resource for damage. I'd prefer Steel Tornado, if the stamina return isn't needed.

Can anyone provide the actual stamina numbers on Whirling Blades from the PTS?

I think the stamina returns are too small to be noticable, I tried both nothing beats Steel tornado its one of the best aoe out there ;p

I, too, am leaning towards Steel Tornado.
