The Merethic Eye [Aldmeri Dominion Roleplay Guild, Thalmor]

The Merethic Eye is a role-playing guild on the Aldmeri Dominion faction focusing on Thalmor dealings, magic, exploration, mystery and horror. The guild consists of members who are either Thalmor agents, under the employ of the Lord Archon Sarinteal Ralleidril, or their associates - candid or otherwise.

Formerly known as the Thalmor Inquest, and while it is a perfectly serviceable name, it has come to our attention that it is a serviceable name for another guild entirely. We are the Thalmor, yes, and will continue to be Thalmor, but we left our Inquest nature behind us on Auridon when we stepped on the neck of the delightful Veiled Heritance remnants in recompense for the death of Acronathis. However please be aware you do not need to be in service to the Thalmor to join us as a guild member or roleplay associate. We strongly encourage individuals and outside guilds to join in our storylines and casual roleplay, just because the ranking members of the guild tend to be Thalmor does not mean you need be intimidated away from interacting with us. Unless of course, you happen to be say… a Daedric cultist or a traitor to the Dominion of some sort. You’re not, are you?

The Merethic Eye will be the same guild, with a different name and slightly different methods. One that is an established Order, with hearth and home, and political intrigue to boot. We won't stop dungeon delving, nor hunting for artifacts for safeguarding. We, technically, will remain almost completely as we were, only older and better suited for the world and RP around us.

To emphasise, we are NOT an Altmer-centric guild nor a law embodiment to police other peoples roleplay, either IC or OOC. There is also a very strong difference between the 2nd era Thalmor as we are, and the 4th era Thalmor of Skyrim. If you are confused by these differences please see this thread before applying.

We will welcome all races OOCly at the very least and any racism, prejudice or hostility experienced IC is solely IC and something you should be aware of if you are not a Dominion race.




Where do we operate?

Auridon and Grahtwood mainly, but journeys far and wide are to be expected as the stories progress.


What kinds of characters are allowed within the guild?

Altmer, Bosmer and Khajiit above all else, though due to the internal ideologies of the sect, unity among even DC and EP races are possible. For the most part Men are not allowed within the guild, but if ever there is one who needs enemies or a sordid alliance – do contact us. The Merethic Eye is a guild built around Merrish lore, history and politics, and so a non-Mer character who joins us would have to be Mer friendly and involved in Merethic affairs. More details on what kinds of characters we wish to see to be found below.


What will we offer in terms of role-play?

- Regular role-play in the Grahtwood Embassy; praying, dining, drinking, socialising - plotting and scheming.

- Regular storyline events where the members will be presented with several choices to bring the storyline forward. These storyline events are game-mastered by the guild leadership, offering you as a member the chance to immerse your character in a dynamic story where few things are as they seem.

- Role-play on the road; stopping by settlements, camp-sites and living the good (bad) life in the countryside when it is necessary.


Roles within the guild:

-Thalmor, above all else.

- Informants. This can also include DC and EP roleplayers for cross faction roleplay.

- Mages. To play this role you as a player should be able to portray magic well in emotes and behaviour, since magic is a large part of the guild.

- Ruthless, eloquent politicians. As the guild reaches further upwards, into the political landscape of the Tamriel, we need an individual who can do whatever it takes for the Dominion to survive.

- Soldiers, guardsmen, mercenaries, brutes, thugs - Please note the Lord Archon has very high expectations of his retainers and demands a professionalism and experience that is befitting to the relevant role. Also requiring these roles with leadership (IC and OOC) experience for ranks with authority.

- Scholars, researchers, archaeologists for self explanatory tasks befitting the relevant role.

- Chefs, craftsmen, merchants. Everyone needs food, wares and a finely crafted blade. In the everyday life of all characters, types like these are to be encountered, and I know there are many who role-play such characters wonderfully.


Some OOC guidelines to consider if you wish to join The Merethic Eye:

- Do keep in character and out of character information separated.

- Role-play only your own character. You cannot decide what consequences your character's actions and behaviour will have on another character.

- Be polite in our OOC chat channels; party, guild, etc.

- People need not apply if their character would have any issues with following instructions that could occasionally be considered questionable from a moral standpoint.

- Please do not join us under false pretenses to spy or to sabotage as this is against guild rules and preferences of the guild leadership and generally bad form. However, both of these can be achieved through other means and by communicating with guild leadership on an Out of Character level.


What will we expect of our members?

- Most importantly we require our members to have an advanced grasp of the English language and the grammar connected to it, however we are willing to welcome members who have the potential and willingness to improve.

- We expect all of our members to be familiar with the lore of the game, especially Thalmor lore, and that they play their characters with this lore in mind.

- We require our members to be active and attend events when they are able to. We expect guild members to be reasonably active and to represent our guild when on duty, to attend events, regularly check the guild website. We also have a Skype group for the guild for OOC communication and summons/check if there's roleplay!

- People who are able to use initiative to work for/with the guild without constant directions from the guild leadership are also appreciated.

- We welcome dynamic characters since the nature of our guild is very character-orientated and the storylines are very much dependent on character driven interactions. You contribute to our events as much as the game master and leadership.

- In addition to this we prefer our members to be over 18 years of age.

With upcoming events it should be known that despite playing on an NA server, the guild leadership and officers are primarily on GMT time, and therefore events and most roleplay takes place within the server hours of 8am and 8pm. During downtime you do not need to represent, but we welcome and encourage roleplay with all guild members in order to get some in guild connections and friendships.

I’d like to thank everybody in the guild for being so patient with the slow transition into making TTI (and now TME) a longer-term, sustainable guild full of folk who’d rather roleplay in an ever-improving atmosphere in the world of Tamriel.

I’m very glad to have the charming and reliable Kuri-Do with us, in addition to the lovely and patient Adalrod; the delightful Millie, and Merem “Cool-as-a-Button” Vilverin. And wherever would we be without the traitorous but ever loyal Kaetlyn Faer’veren who helps manage me and keeps my *** together. You each make guild leading feel easier than it should be, and it's been a pleasure making friends of you all. As for the rest of you, with the coming of the B2P model, and the guild’s restructure proving all the more tempting to become a part of, I hope to see more of the wider community as a whole donning Thalmor colours and waving the righteous Merethic flag.

We want to keep at that, and for your time and understanding we’re wanting to make the guild both structured and flexible. We’ll have a home to RP with renewed vigour, but at the same time it’s in a position where your characters may do as they please in continual service of making Sarinteal the High King of Solstice, Alinor, the Summerset Isle, Cyrodiil and - hell - all of Tamriel.
