"New message" with no messages at all - forums

Long time ago, when forum was attacked by nasty goldspammers... Ok, sorry
This red "1" I have this issue since then and I can't do anything with it. If I try to open inbox I see no messages at all neither new nor old, and red "1" remain where it is. Could you please save me from this fearful ghost message?
