If we're going to have exp potions, let's call them what they are: Skooma

As such, I can tell you that we'll almost certainly have experience boost potions in the store at some point

Why not call them something more closer to in game items?
Skooma
A powerful narcotic and stimulant, the effects of skooma are relatively consistent among the chief races of Tamriel: an acute energetic bodily sensation that gives skooma users an increase in physical strength and speed while impairing one's ability to rationalize or respond quickly to stimulus. Prolonged use of skooma has been known to cause dangerous psychological and physical addiction and in some cases, death.

Sounds a lot like an EXP grinder to me, grind hard and fast for every bit of EXP as long as the effects last and becoming slow and sleepy as the all night grind session comes to a close. All their money devoted to more of the potions as they become more and more addicted.

Exp potions = Skooma. Totally lore friendly

(just poking fun at the designers and grinders, no offense meant)

I seriously dislike the idea of XP-boost potions - but since they apear to be inevitable... call them skooma!

I'd stand behind this. I'd feel very comfortable considering players who use them as drug users to be treated with pity and perhaps some scorn.

I hope we could eventually make Skooma. Can they have a temporary negative effect from excessive use and withdrawal? I feel like that would be necessary.

I love the idea of being able to just BUY skooma from the crown store. Heheheh.

The consumption of Skooma could block accrueing Enligtenment for up to a few days, depending on how much was consumed. So you either keep going on Skooma or face the horrors of coming down again and deal with 400k CPs again.

Think this would mimic narcotics just nicely and might even sell as such in the store. C'mon ZOS, there's money to be had, you just have to take it!
"You've probably figured that out by now. Let's hope so. Or we're in real trouble... and out come the intestines. And I skip rope with them!"

I'm loving all these ideas! Have the player be able to be addicted to Skooma and let them bypass any in-game legal issues by buying from the crown store. If they wanted to partake in the in-game Skooma trade and manufacturing then they can but would run the risk of being caught and prosecuted. Real world consequences for in-game Skooma addiction. Brilliant!

I need to revisit my Skooma suggestion to incorporate these ideas!

The withdrawal from skooma could be similar to the vampire stages.

Probably don't need an "Addict" skill line though. :p

I imagine they can't add skooma to the game due to all the menial drug laws for all the various countries the game is released in.

I love this idea! Though, it being skooma shouldn't there be some kinda drawback to it? Maybe just a visual on the side of the screen like some games do for 'intoxication" lol xD they already have a similar visuals in some quests

either way, I like the idea :P

    It's Ironically very realistic.
You could design it as a drug that gets worse the more you use it. The effect of Skooma could give you an exp booster, but it would have a limit that could be passed of once per day. If you only use one of the boosters per day you will be fine. However if you take one immediately after the first one expires, you will get a booster but you will slip into a stage one addiction, which would in turn create a negative experience booster, or an experience tax upon the boosters expiration. For each one you use you apply an additional stage of addiction which could add on higher percentages to the experience tax. This could probably go on until you hit something like -70%, in which by this point you're forced to never play unless you are under the influence of "Skooma"...

Wow... makes me wonder if after that they will soon introduce an ESO based "Fixer", could even create more addiction problems. Good God, could you imagine the horrors they could get away with when designing "Balmora Blue"?

Yes please add real drugs to ESO. (I'm serious. lol)
