Your Character UNASKED PUBLISHED in fanmade ESO-Database

First of all, sorry if something isn`t correct written cause englisch isn`t my favorite language.

I found ALL Characternames from my Account in this fanmade Database.

http://www.eso-datenbank.de/

I never signt in another fansite and specially not in on this.

http://www.eso-schatzsucher.de/teso/wbb/

I never downloaded this installer http://www.eso-datenbank.de/daten-hinzufuegen/

Please check if your charakter (EU/NA) is in this database and if you not want that the names of your charakter will be published there to write @Chufu‌ or @Keldor‌.
These are the Names behind this database.

This Site will track ALL aktivity from your Character, killed npc`s, collected gold, etc!

From ZOS, i want to know, how could it be that ALL characters from one account get unasked! published on a site that isn`t from ZOS or BETHESDA.

Further, i demand from ZOS to stop sharing our accountdatas with others and if this all should be collected via Add-on to stop this immediately!

This comment is awesome!

Haha, i found a guy called Movingtargetwannabe :D:D:Dhttp://www.eso-datenbank.de/charakter/movingtargetwannabe/2973606/

    Made me laugh :D

All my Chars are there too for some reason. But I dont think its bad. Beside the names theres not that much information.

    Here is my stuff
    http://www.eso-datenbank.de/suche/?s=Moving+target

Some Guilds are missing. 2 of my 5 arnt there.

They cant track all your stuff. 2 of my guilds arnt in that database because nobody in these 2 guilds is using that addon. If you dont use the addon theres no way they can get your information. Only thing they get is where you been last, when you last been online and your charnames etc. Basically only the information everybody ingame can get from just looking at a guild roster of a guild you are in.

If you havn`t a problem with tracking your Account from someone, its fine. I have there a huge problem with!

I didn`t know this add-on, and i never downloaded or installed this! But yes, it will track everything, here you can read it in german:

    http://www.eso-datenbank.de/

    http://www.eso-datenbank.de/daten-hinzufuegen/

"Zudem wird das ESO-Datenbank AddOn automatisch installiert und aktualisiert."
(It will be installed automaticly) ???? From where, from what????

I never downloaded or installed this stuff! So in what add-on it is?

Sorry that i translatet the whole stuff. I`am really confused at time!

It seems they collect almost exclusively from EU. All my characters are in there. Strangely, they're registered only in one guild and some aren't in any guilds at all. I checked the guild page and surely enough, it has over 600 people (probably includes those who were kicked). It does not have our guildmaster, but his character exists in the database.

    What the hell?

Out of curiousity: @ZOS_GinaBruno, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom, is this allowed?

i edited my original post. Thats also why theres not much info about NA. This addon connects to a german database which is written in german. Not that much germans play on NA ;)

I would have a problem with it, if it would track my data. but it doesnt actually.

I guess that explains why they don't have my Polish guilds. :D

There's a difference between checking this information in-game in your guild roster and posting it on the internet for anyone to see. I don't really mind, it's not like it's my personal info out there, but still.

I wonder what kind of legal trouble ZOS could be in because of this. Privacy laws are much different in Europe than in the US. The basic difference is in Europe, individuals are considered the owners of their data, whereas in the US data about an individual is usually considered the property of the data holder. Almost all identifiable data collected in Europe has to be 'opt In.'

Of course, the site owners would be in much more trouble, but ZOS could have some liability if their APIs can be mined for personal info.

It has only character info and all our characters are property of Zenimax anyway.

I understand where you come from mate ;) Maybe i dont see it as that serious since ppl know my stuff anyway from streams and utube. I would be pissed if it would read out my "personal" character info without me using that addon.

They mostly grab the informations from ppl in trading guilds. Coz like everybody has a big trading guild in their 5.

If someone is running the add-on that collects information, and someone would likely know this since they would have to upload that data to the website, they can get details about the characters on that account. This is voluntary information.

If you are not running the add-on, all they get is what is available to everyone who plays. Your character name, level, race, gender, class, title, alliance rank, and where they saw you. If you are in a guild with someone running this add-on, they get to see your information each time they log into the game.

EDIT: There are similar websites for other MMO games. Blizzard runs one of them, but most of the WoW ones are not owned by Blizzard.

There is an addon that tracks all the players in your guild, in chats and PvP etc that you see. I was taken down a long time ago, but the code is still around. I think they got in trouble because they announced that only 200k people play ESO.

Get over yourself. The whole "privacy" thing does not exist anymore and hasn't existed for many years now.

None of the information they have is "personal." It's all public knowledge, and there's nothing you can do to hide it. There's a bunch of stuff that anyone can find out about you in this game. All guild sales are recorded, so you can sum up all of them and find how much money any person makes from the guild store. You can also see what they buy and sell. AvA rank? I just hover over your character and look at the icon. You opt-in to all of these things just by purchasing the game.

ZOS just displays all of this info for anyone to see. And guess what. No one cares. It's been like this for a year now, and people are still having a great time playing the game.

    Hello @Wolfshade,

as I said in 3 other Threads before: The Eso-Datenbank is not a project directly from Eso-Schatzsucher.de. If you want to have futher informations please contact Keldor on eso-datenbank.de.

On the other hand: ZOS still knows of this project and it was presented in one of the last Tamriel-News.

And if somebody of you doesn't know this before: ZOS still have these informations (and A LOT MORE) than Keldor presented on es-datenbank.de....

Um, what personally identifiable data does a character in a video game have?

    Answer: NONE

If that site in only listing your characters there are NO legal issues here at all. Some people prattle on about 'privacy' in relation to character info, thankfully the law isn't no asinine.

Elitists do, so they can exclude others from "their" content ;)

It happens since years at WOW, don't have an achievement, a wrong placed gem or talent --> kick & insulted.

Our society is full of people with a serious voyeur syndrome, governments read our emails, gamers spy on our accounts - its ridiculous but people let it happen and don't revolt, so it wont go any time soon.

Does this add a permanently turned on spell named "Listening" ? In the attribute panel. If so, they are installing stuff on our computers without our consent. Which is probably not legal in some countries.

Hey guys, the way it works is very simple, it's more a service than a privacy issue.
Basically if you want you're stats to be registered you install an addon/client that will send data to the site. The database work only because there are enough people that run the addon so it can collects enough data to map guild and characters name/location. Those are 100% public and accessible information you can get from the in game addon API.

If 1 member of your guilde run it, then boom, all your guild members can be in the database this information can be uploaded by the addon. More information become tracked only if you install the addon/client

    Oh HEY Moving Target :)

Meh who cares, it's information about an imaginary character in a simulated world that can only be accessed if you install an add-on. In STO they use something called Gateway which allows you by changing the URL to access every character's details including their builds. Some people got upset by this so a check box was added in the game which enabled the exclusion of your data from the Gateway, however a lot of people now use it to share builds as it's a lot quicker than taking all the screenshots and writing it up yourself.
