What is the point of ESO LIVE?

Time for another Forum Post to be popular with players and forever ignored by Zenimax!

Sorry, I am just a little annoyed after watching the latest ESO Live. You created this 'show' to answer our questions, talk about future content, etc, yet more and more ESO Live is repetition of content we already heard about for weeks and weeks and less and less about answering your Community's concerns!

We know we got new animations with 1.6! We know about the Justice System! We know about Provisioning revamp! You know what we don't know about? We don't know when Imperial City will be released! More important, we don't know when the Veteran Ranks will be removed! Not to mention all our questions regarding gear nerfs currently on PTS (Really, you guys nerfed all Raid gear so hard I deconstructed mine on the PTS for gold materials. If you are going to remove Crit (cause 3% crit from 8 % is an insult), at least give us something in return! All our questions about class rebalanced (specially for Sorcerers and Nightblades) are also being ignored!

So, again, here is my question (that you will ignore) for the next ESO Live - What is the point of ESO Live if you only choose easy to answer questions, if you never know anything regarding future content, if you never discuss the important matters mentioned all over your Forum?

When you bring Developers in, we don't want to hear more about what is their work! We already know that... We want them to answer pertinent questions regarding development! Please stop making fools of us, stop hiding from our questions! Pretending there are no complex questions doesn't make those questions vanish.

Really? It had to be a mushroom? Ok, well, I am a unsatisfied mushroom at the quality of shiet being shoved on to my... roots?

Seriously, how many more times will they answer "Are there going to be new trophies / Pets / Disguises / Mounts? They've been answering this in every episode of ESO Live!

And yet we still have no clue as to when we will actually have new content to play! Or if this new DLC zones will actually include new Trials and how will players scale to such late game content!

    OOOOH OMG!

They are actually talking about Sorcerers now!

ZOS has given up on it's game and their players. The point of ESO Live is to shove their new crap that you don't want down your throat until you learn to like it. And if you never like it who cares you aren't a console player anyway.

I wish I was wrong. I thought everyone who said the same thing since last April was wrong. But they have shown time and time again that this is exactly what they are doing. Look at Final Fantasy XIV and you will see a company that cares about their players and their game. Compare what they have released in updates to what ZOS has released in updates. Compare what each company has given their players for their continued support. Compare both and you will see that there is no comparison between a passionate company and a company that just gave up.

It feels as if the basis of the show is several things:

    Community acknowledgement.
    interaction and feedback
    updates and information
to help create rapport by personalizing the faces behind the codes.

The show isn't targeting us as an audience all the time. Sometimes they are targetting non subbed people who show interest in the game and making them awares.

There is also the factor of privileged and secured information. All the stuff you read about in books and watch on tv and movies is absolutely true. I can tell you it sucks to have a project i've poured months of creativity on just collapse and my team restructured because one of the board of directors had one too many of McCallan's fingers in him at a public function. I now keep my team's progress on a need to know basis with my superiors to maintain integrity. Their job is to sign my checks, not make creative decisions for me.

Do I wish they would answer all our questions, queries, complaints & moans?

    Yes... of course I do.

But they don't for the same reason they don't answer them on here... they are either unwilling or in many cases unable to.

Do I still enjoy ESO live anyway?

    Yes... of course I do!

Its fun... light hearted... often has some interesting bits & pieces in it... and there's usually a few useful nuggets of info in it that answers one or two Q's.

At least it shows them making a little more of an effort at communication & interaction with us than they did in the beginning.

It is because nothing is set in stone and every time they state something that ends up not happening or changes in the future. People are going to cry that they lied so they are not going answer questions that they are not 100% sure on plus eso live is a community show they are not devs so they have limited info on what is final. Its a show that convey new info when they actually have it and is there to talk about community stuff in general.

Like the inner working of certain jobs, fan drawings, talking about the game, some gameplay, and some new info. If you paid intention to the eso live they have stated that have heard feedback from sorcerers and other feedback from the pts and they already patching some issues and some changes next week. So they do see our questions on the forums. Examples of this is lower cooldown of surge, fixing the WW cc break, and other things that was not metion.

I watch to see how little they mention PvP. No seriously, the community segments are nice. "Life at ZOS," gives us some insight into the gaming world. They deliver valuable ESO info when it's approved. And finally, I love to hate the puns.

After 1.6 I fear it will become about pimpin' the crown shop.

I find the quality of information and the manner in which it's delivered pretty lackluster, when not downright embarassing to watch. I am as interested and appreciative of banter/fun as the next guy, but at the end of the day when all I seem to get from these "shows" is nothing but fluff, it's not exactly what I'd call an informative source for the things about the game that actually interest me. Seems to mostly just be a PR exercise to appease a certain crowd.

I watched the first one, haven't watched another one since.

It's not just ESO Live, it's a lot of these dev shows that some companies do. They rarely give out answers the player base wants.

Some people love them, some people hate them and some of us are so indifferent to them we don't even think they are worth the effort.

A game i'm quite active in, and i've mentioned a few times, is Warframe. They do something similar but a lot of theirs is useless stuff hardly anyone cares about. Occasionally they do interesting ones when an update is getting it's first show or a new frame is coming but most of the time it's just them chatting about what food they ate last night.

I agree with the OP, all the raid gear that we have worked very hard to collected has been nerfed into the ground. I can understand the AA/HRC gear but after seeing the nerfs on infallible/vicious really dampened my PTS experience.

Players want to know what the hell is going on with VR as far as the future goes. All kinds of hype about it here on the forum, and on reddit. The reddit AUA thread was soaked with VR questions. ZoS completely ignores it and talks about the same crappy questions they answer every time this show goes live. Disappointing, and not good for the removal of VR anytime soon (this year).
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

TBH most of your questions are too general and can be easily answer with we change the whole system thus this is the reason why all of this happen. Most of the questions were asked by fans of the game. I specifically remember that build fires with wood question on the forums. So plenty of people are going to ask any kind of random question that does not have to do with the usual spam. Just because a question ask a lot does not mean it is important.
I remember on reddit about 10 people ask the same question and we got no new info from it because it was consider an important question and everybody was asking it. Which was a waste because they could of answer more meaningful questions instead of the usually spam of misgivings that come from each change of the game.

An i donøt get way people think they can demand to know stuff. if they aint ready to talk about it they don't and way do people like to know things that are not done and may change anyway? It don't help anyone.

i rather like eso live i'd rather have it that not have it. Admittedly it is a promotional tool and if your looking for new information there might be couple of small bits of here and there.

It's also an interactive community event most of my guild watch it. If you don't like it then don't watch it. They have a coordinated release strategy so when they announce stuff when it's ready.

On them not answering the serious questions housing, new content etc If they said housing was coming in 2 years time would that make any difference now that you have a timeframe - probably not.

As well it's a way to advertise the game and present information to their target market - consoles.

Off topic - example i watched taken 2 the other night i enjoyed the original and knew what too expect 90 minutes of liam neeson kicking butt and that 's exactly i what got.

So ESO live is 90 minutes of them promoting the game and creating a brand identity. Watching ESO live and expecting more than that- hehe you're funny :)

To me, it's just a dog and pony show. I don't go in expecting them to reveal any information on the hard questions. You have to remember, they have the stink eyes on them from the suits. I'm sure they have a pretty tight clamp on them controlling what information gets released.

"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

No offence to PvPers but camp fires are more important, it's exploration and immersion that makes TESO a best selling game, not freaking power creep and being able to crit vape another player instantly, it's the latter crap that has ruined far too many good MMOs.

I want to see player customisation more than I want to see PvP in the game. PvP is fun for sure but it's a minority part of the game and I'm tired of seeing Devs bend over backwards to accommodate the extremely vocal minority that is PvPers, sorry if you don't like my comment, nothing personal to you, but as a general statement I've seen PvPers screw up games with their whiny pathetic demands for power just so they can show another player how big their epeen is.

Player customisation, camp fires, housing, new quests, new adventure zones, extended main story missions, interesting new monsters, improved graphics, stable server, these and many more come very much higher than your crit chance for me!

I was in closed Beta and know how bad the game was compared to now. Looking at it holistically I would say that the change through to 1.58 have generally improved the game tremendously. I'm not an RPer myself but I appreciate where they are coming from. Adding a camp fire will not affect my game, pandering to PvPers with their incessant power creep demands will. I have more faith in ZOS than other companies as they continue to swear blind that their crown shop will in no way affect in-game stats, p2w and pvp often unfortunately go hand in hand.

ZoS has this thing about looking prestigious in their announcements, it's annoying where really all they need to do is communicate more with people on the forums.

I guess Gina and that didn't have any information on the changes to nightblades and sorcerers as Eric Wobel wasn't there.

Besides the PTS has only been active for a short time. They have said they know about the feedback we have given them about Critical surge and Cloth and even the Guests admitted that.

Really the only problem here is patience for the next build I hope where they address these.

But yes I agree, ZoS needs better communication with its community outside of twitch.
