Spellcrafting?

at first when this was announced shortly after launch, i got an impression that this will be something they add sooner rather than later. Was expecting it after a year of development but...

As said in AMA. They are going to docus on adventure content and similar rather than game mechanic changes..

This makes me worried quite a bit.. However they say it in nice, sugar coated terms, i fear rthey are trying to forget this whole thing, there has not been anything i seen about this for a long time now..

So please, do not abandon these, you promised this great system and i hope you will deliver. Other fluff and minigames will better be added as well, not all of us want to just grind quests after quests, we want things to get out of that. Small minigames that have nothing to do with progression. Things that are fun and also immersive like housing, horse racing, maybe sailing.. Parties, world events.. Game will be boring if there is nothing else to do than quest after quest.

consoles are separate thing, you better keep updates coming faster than it seems from your statements. We PC gamers do not want to suffer for consoles. It is your own fault you dedicated to these as well and i hope you dont try to tie us together with console players. Consoles and PC do not need to get updates the same time.

Oh i forgot this important line...

Sorry to break it to you, but Spellcrafting--IF and when it comes--won't be around for awhile. The Cash Shop is where ZOS is making its money now, and that's where resources are going to go. Why do you think players hate the transition from Sub to Cash Shop? We know what it entails. We've been through it before.

Kilandros - Dragonknight / Grand Overlord
Deimos - Templar / Grand Warlord
    Sias - Sorcerer / Prefect
Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

DK IS NOT JUST A TANK CLASS. #PLAYTHEWAYYOUWANT

Spellcrafting? That will be $20 please. Also, the patch that comes out 10 months later to finally fix spellcrafting will be another $15

I'm still very sceptical about how spell crafting will be handled, would like to hear from ZOS what they have planned or at least on the table.

Yes, this is why i, as well hate the new "Oh so fabulous free to play cash shop madness" that some people are so frikin exited about..

People are so exited to play for free AKA being freeriders not giving anything but taking bandwidth plus buying stuff that should have been for all in Subscriber based game :(

Still as said in this road ahead

    http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-gb/news/post/2014/08/20/the-road-ahead----august-20

Spellcrafting is on about same schedule as is justice system which is now coming on its first phase..

Dont you dare to just yet go to different kinds of content updates such as adventures as such. Deliver this last thing mentioned in the road ahead and after that, i think its a good time to relax on game systems and go to that adventure content...

If funds are in low, you could also introduce some sort of donation program for dedicated fans to help develop the PC version (I for one have ZERO interest on funding crappy console games). I for one would be glad to give at least bit more than i pay as mothly sub to help maintain the PC version as good as it has potential to.

No, i will not donate money through cash shop as that cash goes to wrong place, sorry.

They had to completely redo Spellcrafting because of the Champion System due to the balance of everything being out of whack. It probably got pushed to the backburner.

They're still planning to release it as said in the recent AmA. We don't know when, but then again, we don't know anything about the updates after 1.6.

They dont need to add spellcrafting they need to remove classes and let us pick from any of them... We can create our own classes... critical sneak healer, can vanish to lose agro and then cast a heal that will be critical. A Saping tank... etc etc...

This is what should happen but also spellcrafting should happen to bring us those traditional schools of magick

I was actually surprised to see that this game has forced classes when i started my first character in Beta. I was also very disappointed about how MMO most abilities felt with so many needless flashy effects ..

You try to balance that. They're already having problems balancing with the freedom they've given us, which is more than most MMOs.

Balance is boring, balance leads to stale boring gameplay.

In any terms, balance can be achieved by any player if he or she chooses right choices when creating a class.

To have a good and entertaining game, there should be weak points and strong points and if players choose those weak points withpout compensating with strong points, they either want to do that or need to learn a bit more about game system.

Player who chooses not to learn is in no terms entitled to good build.

Another statement from basic unimaginitive MMO player who can not see past himself.

Sorry but you lot are boring, you just care about effectiveness and at least it feels like nothing else. There are players who can see past boring balances and effective systems and instead choose to play as character, an individual who might be weak or strong. Playing that way is realism for me, people are different.

Please dont waste time posting an answer as i allready know what you lot say. You have been using those same boring sentences for years now.

I beleive they said that they were working on the champion system for over or about a year. So for as long as this first part of eso has been released they have been workingo n the content we are about to get. If they started working on spell crafting along with the champion and justice system then we would be getting all of those things at once. So im guessing this idea came later than the other two or at the same time as the justice system and champion system. But it looks like it was put on the backburner. So im predicting next year or near the end of this year. Still very disappointing though that they told us about it in july of 2014. We till have a long time to wait for this.

We do not know that spellcrafting is in 1.7.

We do not know that anything is slated to drop between PC and console releases.

In fact we do know that TU on PC and console will be the same (given one or two bug fixes/balancing fixes).

We also know that ZoS don't want a repeat of the rebalancing act of 1.6. Which means that the updates that are most closely linked to balancing - spellcrafting, removal of VR, PvP aspect of the Justice System - have been put on hold.

They also said that they will slow down updates following the console release to allow the game time "to breathe"...

If I were ZoS I'd wait 6 months until all the new console players were getting a little bored with the game, then bring out a shiny new expansion pack... just in time for Christmas ;)

Sadly they speak in MMO timetable terms and slowing down might mean couple updates a year, aadding the fact that apparently same teams now work for PC and Console versions.. I suspect this is to save production costs but i think both games deserve a separate teams to work on them.

Spell crafting was not scraped. It was slated for 1.7 but due to the Champion system introduction, it's being pushed to 1.8 to allow them to retune the craft choices with the balance of the champion point adjustment.

Both wrong, sadly. They never mentioned anything about the release schedule after Update 6, and we know that there will be no new content for some time after console release - including Wrothgar.

    @‌Faulgor

    Agree with you.

    Just a repost:

No content past the 1.6 update is being released before the June launch of console, has been stated several times. They also say they want to release everything after console release at the same time for PC/MAC/CONSOLE.

Imperial City / Thieves Guild / Dark Brotherhood / Wrothgar will be months after console release as they stated they were going to slow things down and let the game settle after that event.

    Some thoughts:

Guessing we get the Justice and Champion system "final stages" as an update… not as DLC.

Guessing Jewelcrafting and Spellcrafting will also be free updates down the road because it would seem to be a complete mess to try and separate game systems from game content with DLC. Imagine trying to balance content when some people will have these two options enhancing their builds and others will not...

There will be plenty of things they will do as DLC without including these, starting with: Imperial City / Thieves Guild / Dark Brotherhood / Wrothgar

BUY to play is not FREE to play. Never mind all those articles published online over the past few weeks by idiots who can't tell the difference. GW2 has done incredibly well financially for its developers and without any hint of the typical cash shop horrors you'd find in a f2p game. I'd at least hope (if not expect) the same from ESO.

B2p is totally different from f2p. F2p games only ever see money from 5-10% of players and on average only a few dollars. B2p sees money - 40 plus dollars - from every single player. That means developers a) don't need to weasel money out of players in slimy and underhanded ways and b) don't want to because it would cost them future sales.

Back to the topic, I'm with the OP. Spellcrafting remains the single most interesting future update for me. I'm disinclined to play really until it's live, so I don't ruin what might be the game I originally hoped ESO would be.
