Between the escape from Coldharbour and the starter islands, I don't really feel any other tutorial is needed. To me they taught me everything I needed to know to really get playing.
Having said that, I'm certainly not against the idea of a more detailed tutorial being available for those who need it. Hopefully new players won't be forced to do it, though, because I imagine that would turn some people off the game.
Good point here: the crafting tutorials (I assume you mean the tutorials that you do in order to be certified to complete crafting writs) are new, and have only been around since 1.5 (or was it 1.4?). I think they were handled very nicely, and that's probably the one tutorial-related thing that I wish had been in the game at launch, as it took me a little while and a little digging on the internet to really figure out all of the crafts.I started the game about two weeks ago, the tutorial area taught me more than enough, really. The crafts have their own tutorial quests when you pick them up. I don't see what else is necessary.

I don't really see a need for the Coldharbour sequence to be longer, and I don't think that the starter islands need to be mandatory. There's no need for a _new_ tutorial, just go back to the way it was in the first open beta - slightly longer Coldharbour, obligatory starter islands but with the possibility to skip after the first quest, slower levelling, starting at level 2

Not necessarily. You could have a boat available to take you to the first full zone right away if you chose to do so.AlexDougherty wrote: »I don't really see a need for the Coldharbour sequence to be longer, and I don't think that the starter islands need to be mandatory. There's no need for a _new_ tutorial, just go back to the way it was in the first open beta - slightly longer Coldharbour, obligatory starter islands but with the possibility to skip after the first quest, slower levelling, starting at level 2

But if you started on the starter islands then you would have to play them to get to the first area. Not that I'm against the idea, I always play the starter islands anyway.

Yeah, but just because I don't feel it's necessary, that doesn't mean that it's a bad idea to have a new one... As long as you can skip it if you want, anyway.jackleminer55 wrote: »So I understand that some of you don't think a new tutorial is necessary, and though it really isn't, I do remember somebody on one of the ESO Live episodes mentioning something about one and I was just wondering.

Good point. The new tutorial mentioned may be geared primarily towards the newly added game elements. If so, then I would definitely consider it worthwhile. One thing to consider.. Justice System. That may alter parts of the tutorial. Its why I have a character slot waiting for it.

I think it was Gina who mentioned trying out the new tutorial on PTS. I will make a sparkly new character just to see what was changed. I might go back to watch the hour and half on update 6 to see if I catch any thing else.
Starting in full armour? I didn't try the PTS when that was in the works... How did it work? Was it much different from being able to grab a full set of 0 gold armour / weapons from around the smithy as soon as you're out of Coldharbour?I think it was Gina who mentioned trying out the new tutorial on PTS. Could be their braindead attempt with 1.5 to have you start in full armour... Thankfully they dropped that after the massive reactions it met on the PTS forum.

All of the cuirasses and everything sitting around that you can pick up. They sometimes show up in containers too, and they're always scaled to your level (but always slightly inferior to crafted or dropped white pieces).Basically a sorcerer would always start out in a near-full set of light armour, a nightblade in a near-full set of medium, and a Templar in a near-full set of heavy, IIRC the only lacking was the pauldron and helmets.
Finding 0 gold armour around the smithy? Where?
