[Feedback Here]Cyrodiil Performance & Population Cap Adjustments

As the post requesting feedback is closed I thought i'd make one for people to actually give feedback specifically on this change.

My feedback:

I'm glad you tried this, this is imo what players want to see, you trying different things out to see what works, kind of wish you communicated a little more but action is nice to see.

This doesn't work in my opinion.

1. Still lags with these lower population caps
2. We still have issues with population and a fragmentation of the PVP community (issues like +1480 points per tick bonus see Low Pop Bonus
3. Prevents players from playing on their original home campaigns during prime time (this will cause more people to quit until its no longer a problem having lower pop campaigns).
4. Isn't really the solution anyone in the community is asking for (I agree that you shouldn't always follow the community but if people are calling for less campaigns because they already feel too underpopulated even with the lag) then lowering the population further doesnt help this.
5. Bring forward camps back before 1.7 I feel its killing the game further when all players do not having them.
Nikel -> Ash, Alessia -> Sej fights are so boring and hasn't improved the lag at all.

My feedback is Id like to see a actual Dev get on Thornblade as a DC toon during prime time and draw their own conclusions .

For me it is working better but a lot of people left and didn't come back.

Leaving the flashing white box around pvp flag bug for months really shows how little they spend on pvp.

Agreed, at least an hour per session, several times per week, in the most populated campaign (currently Thornblade), in at least an 8-man group, engaging in all major battles during that time.

I know the devs and qa team play on the live server sometimes, but they don't play when kr how the majority of us do. There are as many complaints about zos' lack of feedback and failure to acknowledge pvp issues as there are complaints about the actual game issues. Making it a core job requirement to share the experience of the core player base might go a long way.

Of course, even if the devs and qa team know and agree with our frustrations we'd never know, they'd be fired for saying such a thing

Think part of the problem with fragmentation is Home >< Guest campaign limitation. I understand "Home" campaign and it can be only one home campaign, but I don't understand why you need to set Guest campaign, as all campaign that are not your Home campaign should be Guest, no? Current system only locks people from joining Cyrodiil in certain periods, even tho you can actually join campaign that is neither your home or guest campaign via travel to player option.

Asked some people around but no one seems to know the logical answer, so if one knows feel free to share the knowledge.

I want to see a ZOS staff member post their plans for PVP in a thread, or a post in another thread.

In other words, I want communication.

ZOS will only respond to an Alliance War thread for voilating the forum tos. Not to questions or issues. If you make a stink about Cyrodiil in the general subforum you stand a good chance of getting zos response...to say "we have move this to the Alliance War section". This is where complaints and issues go to die. Remember, they only RP at technical support.

If last night was any indicator the pop reduction made the lag worse, because there aren't enough people to effectively fight on more than one front. When two sides are engaged, the other is bored and travels to where the action is. Then there are three big groups fighting in one place and it's lagtastic.

It happened when DC was fighting AD at Ash and Nikel, and an EP blob showed up. Later DC was fighting EP at Ales and a huge AD blob showed up. All three factions fighting over Ales farm. Nobody was even trying to siege the keep, people were just looking for the fights. I know at least a handful of DC went down to an AD/EP fight at Alessia for the same reason.

There have always been times when one side fights both others at the same time, but I've never seen it happen so many times in one night before. Because of it, the lag and low performance were as bad as I've seen.

Have the Devs ever popped onto the server in any form to play with the community and experience the game post launch? In a Data gathering fashion

If so, it's probably during their regular working hours when all pops are low. From that ivory tower everything is fine and we're just a bunch of whiny babies.

With the exception of your point 5 OP, I generally agree with you (for what it's worth). Pop caps help a little but do not appear to be the whole problem. I feel the pop cap was just ZOS throwing us a bone and not actually working to fix pvp in Cyrodiil.

The pop cap is very low now and has made things worse by forcing groups to merge with other groups and Zerg even harder.

What worries me even more is I know I read that the imperial city population will affect the over cyro population. So what happens when that comes out and all the PvE players come in for their fun and lock all the pvp players out?

No need to worry, the pve'rs will go into the dead buff campaigns that they are already homing in, where they wont be disturbed.

I agree with everything Izanagi said, I think he covered everything there.

In regards to more communication from ZOS my dream is to eventually see something like the EVE Online forums where big changes are posted then can be tested, feedback given in one place, then iterations made if needed.

CCP normally have new features or changes to ships up on that forum for a month to gather and discuss with the players (and they actively post/debate in the threads) before final changes are put forward.

PVP recently seems to have a lot more sneak attack patches and changes which we've had no say in.

Yeah it hasn't helped. If you get two medium to large blobs together spamming AoEs, the server lags. Nothing more to it.

That's my worry as well. Some might go to the buff campaigns, but there will still be those that look for the higher population. Which means even longer queue times than what we are already getting now.

Game still crawls to a halt on both the network as well as the rendering side as soon as two groups of 20+ people start one of those exciting 'stand still and spam AoE' battles.

The problem is that so far there is not so much of a "discussion" about the game between players and Devs more a statement followed by reactions. We would love (most of us) to actually discuss issues with you ZOS. Believe it or not but most people playing your game actually want it to succeed. If you want to talk to a few of us you can contact me will try and arrange something.

While there still is some lag, i have not seen the typical scenario where a blob spamming AOE causes all skills around them to stop working/be delayed for minutes.

I have been in a few fights already that, from my previous experience, should have done the above, but did not. So things seems to have changed for the better, at least somewhat.

Yes, seriously. I am on EU Thornblade. Several long play sessions over the last 3 days, and i never saw the dreaded red 999+ ping indicator in the corner. Campaign was locked across the board, and i was in several keep sieges.

I did see a red ping indicator several times, but it was usually around 400 max, and skills still worked, even if slightly delayed (just a second or two).
