Performance question

Well, yesterday I set up my new build. This is what I put into it:

-GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
-AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor
-Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM
-XFX RADEON Double D R9 280X 1000MHz BOOST Ready 3GB DDR5 2XmDP HDMI 2XDVI Graphics Cards R9-280X-TDFD
-Crucial MX100 512GB SATA 2.5" 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal Solid State Drive

Pretty decent, if you ask me. The issue I'm having is I seem to still only get 30-40 FPS in most areas. That's what I was getting before with a 5 year old set up. Am I missing something here? Is there any reason why my FPS is so low for this build?

I don't think the setup matters anymore. I used to get 100 fps then update 4 happened now I get 35-45 also. I think it has to do with the single core set up. Not sure what happened in 1.4 but I know a lot of people's dropped after 1.2.

You can't play this game in multiple cores?

Turn of AA and you'll see a big jump.

And it's mostly your CPU bottlenecking you in populated areas. My FX-6300 @4.5gz with my GTX 970 only get my around 35-40fps in a city. Same exact FPS at 4k resolution if I downsample, so it's 100% the CPU.

I think that's what was said. I don't worry too much about technical stuff too much. If I remember right they said single core processing is all they use. You can unlock your cores to help out but again I don't know much about it so can't help you there.

All I know is that my rig blows the specs out of the water and I still have to set I to medium to get 60fps. And I shouldn't have to.

I think it hits one core hard, and then barely stresses any others it uises.

I did see about a 5-8fps jump in large battles in Cyrodil after OCing my CPU from 3.5ghz to 4.5ghz, so that's something to think about if you have the cooling for it.

Why can't ESO use more than one core? :\
Xbox One and PS4 both have 8-core processors. Do games use only one core for them too?
    Wololo.

Well, I was only able to finally get in this morning. I installed last night, and had the 12 GB patch I let run overnight. I logged in this morning, with the 3 minutes I had before work, and I was next to the crafting station where you make the seducer set in AD. In that area and the open area after exiting, I was getting only 30-40 FPS. I know when the game first came out, I was getting on my old system in open low processing areas 60-80 FPS, and my friend, running a setup slightly less powerful than mine, was getting around 120fps.
