Has the cost of bashing been increased?

It might be my imagination, but, since 1.5.4, suddenly bashing seems to be taking a lot more stamina and if I don't release the right mouse button immediately after tapping the left to bash I seem to lose a lot more.
Has anyone else noticed this.
