Very slow patching and WebGetrequest failed error

Hello Zenimax,

I have cancelled my subscription because playing this game as a busy individual (and all of use have things we'd rather do then stare at a patcher) is a nightmare. It's such a pain to patch.

Right now, the latest 20mb or so patch (teeny tiny) has been downloading for the last 2 hours at 5kbs. Occasionally stopping altogether with a WebGetRequest failed.
I've been having stupidly slow patching speeds since day I, but this... is a new low.

I've spent the evening trying to figure out the problem... rebooting, launching from various .exes, as admin, disabling all firewalls and anti-virus', and attempting to port forward as one post suggested, except it turns out I need the name server details (DNS) from my ISP, who's help centre shut about 10 minutes before I figured this out.

This is the first evening I've been able to set aside for gaming in two weeks! I have so little time and this is such a pain in the arse to have to deal with. I should have played Skyrim.

I usually play ESO on my Windows laptop and never had such problems BUT since I tried installing ESO on my iMac I experienced the "pain in the arse" you are talking about. Patching goes on like forever, with ridiculous speed and continuos errors, seems like pausing and resuming downloads speeds up the process for some minutes before everything slows down again. This happens to me only on Mac OS.

Yeah, have this issue too. But it seems it's continue downloading after some time. But I have speed ~1-3 mbs.

I just tried again today out of curiosity - it's downloading at full speed again, no issues.

I should mention this also happened when Update 5 went live, I tried the evening after release and had the Webget error /poor download speeds combination. I had to run though so just left it when it didn't work,set it to patch following morning on the way out to work and it updated that day without a problem .

Then again last night, same issue, no download one day, full speed the next.

Similar fluctuating patch speed issues have happened me before, and from what I've been reading, a lot of people have been having similar issues since launch.This patcher seems to be really broken.

Suggestion:

Some more detail about what the launcher is doing at a given time would be great.E.g a little blurb saying "set-up is now updating game files... ", "patch client is downloading blahblah blah".

Trouble-shooting would be a lot easier.

Last night my game was trying to download a 20mb file, now it's downloading a 4,200mb file. And it downloaded Update 5 on Monday.
What are all these downloads for?
What's it doing ? I can't tell because absolutely no information is given on the launcher.
