Group Dungeon scaling seems broken

According to the patch notes 1.5.2 dungeon scaling will be set according to the group leader’s level. Today I joined a group of 3 players in the 16 – 18 range to test this. I am a VR12. The group leader was level 16. We entered Elden Hollow, making sure I entered last. The mobs inside were all scaled to VR12.

As I understand this is not the way the scaling is supposed to work.

Maybe the problem was the group leader being level 16. According to Dungeon Finder it lists 17 as the minimum for EH. Try with the level 18 as GL, may fix it.

I grouped with three others, I am V14, that were 40-45 and it scaled to V12. I was not the leader. The only way they could fix it was to remove me.

Good suggestion. I tried that last night and no change, scaled to VR12, but all that I can see is that the scaling issue appears to be bugged. I, for one, enjoy helping others. That coupled with the fact that I am way behind in running the group dungeons make this scaling issue poignant to me.

Again, please clarify this issue. Is my understanding incorrect or is the scaling issue not as designed???

    Hey there @Greywolf46,

Did you happen to have the dungeon difficulty set to Veteran? This can be checked on the Group menu.

I just ran through Raz's Wheel and the level worked properly this time. We were all vets. Everyone was a V5 except for me, I am a V14. One of the V5's grouped us and the dungeon was level 5.

We found tonight that with the Undaunted pledges you MUST have the dungeon set to 'normal' not 'vet' otherwise you do not get the right bosses to complete the pledge.

All group members were VR's btw , in Wayrest Sewers, when we set the level to 'Vet' we got the wrong(harder) bosses and the lesser options such as Slimeclaw did not appear at all......... changing the setting gave us the right enemies. :D

I haven't done much group dungeon play, but did pop my head around the door of City Of Ash simply because I hadn't been able to enter pre-patch 1.5.

I had a quick look around as a single character VR10 and everything inside was VR14.

Razak's is a public dungeon and doesn't scale, it's the group dungeons that scale to the group leader.

I did a dungeon run a few days ago and i'm a vr1 and it did not scale up to me. Everyone else was in the 40s, so maybe it just picks and chooses when to be an ***.

I just grouped with a level 20 Templar, with her as leader and entered Elden Hollow. The dungeon set to the normal level and we finished it. So, in this case the scaling worked as designed. I am not sure what caused my problem prior to 1.5.3; perhaps that patch fixed it.

    Thanks for the attention.
