Weapon swap freezing the game!

So ever since 1.5, sometimes my client just decides to give me the middle finger, and freezes my game for 10-30 sec whenever I swap bars. Every. Single. Time. Until I relog. Has this been happening to anyone else?

i had the same problem. It ended up being a addon to do with saving skill bars. If you run anything like that, disable the addon and then try play.

That has happened to me twice since 1.5. Once in a dungeon and once in Cyrodiil.

I get this bug everyday. You have to relog and restart your entire game.

Was it Wykkid's? That's what I'm using.

I noticed last night that shortly after using Wykkid's outfitter to swap from my destro to resto bar, I started getting the freezing.

Was it Wykkid's? That's what I'm using.

I haven't used wykkid in ages and I still get the weapon swap bug. I do use alphatools though.

It happened to me on the PTS where I don't use Wykkyds addons before the patch deployed. Reported it but it got through.

Now that you mention it, I have only noticed this bug after changing around my gear and skillsets to go from PvE to PvP or back. I do use Wykkid, but sometimes it happens when I only change 3-4 skills. It all started in 1.52.

What happens is that my weapon swap slowly takes longer and longer, until eventually it takes over a minute. 1 second delay, 2 second delay, 4 second delay, 8 second delay, etc. Alt+F4 and relaunch the game fixes it.

I was having a half second lag on every weapon swap after 1.5. The lag ended after I stopped allowing the Crystal Fragments Proc add on. I still get a (different) notification (Wykkids? FTC?) so maybe it wasn't so much the add on but that two add ons were trying to do the same thing?

I get the bug without switching gear and I use wykkids. It doesn't even happen immediately after switching. Might be related tho. Maybe i'll check If I decide to play sometime soon

I can confirm this problem.

The first freeze is like few secs then when i swap again the freeze time increases exponentially, like 30 secs or more.

Re-logging does get rid of it though.

I found a fix that does not involve relogging.


Go to settings > Gameplay > hide helmet


Rather you hide your helm or not makes no difference. Just click it. You will have another temporary freeze. But then it's fixed. You can then switch back.


Not a hard fix, but hey... better then relogging right?

similar issue happens in cryodil after rezing to a keep. Tool bar locked can't switch weapons or use doors. work around is hitting esc key. Also still getting the burnt flesh graphic after respawning.

I got the same thing in the Crypt of hears on a boss. I switch weapons (before fight) and client froze until the rest of the group attacked and I got killed. Except for the fact that the boss in question was ridicilously difficult, the freezing didn't really help the fun in game ZOS.

I guess it has been so long since the game launched, but I wonder if /reloadui will work. I had to use this command every hour the first month the game came out.

I got this bug today, first time so far. When I would swap weapon there would be a short screen freeze. But then each swap the freeze got longer and longer. Till it was so long I server timed out. If this happens to you best to relog at the start.

getting the same bug to, i use FTC, skyshards, lorebooks addons

Got this last night myself in pvp. Also run FTC and Skyshards, only 2 addons I use.

As stated earlier, toggling 'show/hide helmet' on/off fixes this bug w/o having to relog. A lot of ppl still don't know this.

Incidentally I only experience this bug on my sorc, never any other class. I wonder if its an issue with a sorc related skill?

Same problem with my DK, after hour playing. When swapping Bow and Resto staff. With any other weapon combinations problem gone.

Might be resto staff related then, since after reading back the whole thread, I am pretty sure everyone in here uses one on either main or off bars (could be wrong, but based on what ive seen them use in game)

Yeah, I'm a sorc too. Resto on my second bar.


I don't get it as often as before. Before the recent maintenance, I would get it like, once every hour or so. Now I get it once every other day.


Resto staff might be the culprit. It's had animation issues in one of the patches(4th If I recall correctly) and it still sort of does when you swap while running.



I found the toggle helm "fix" because, I would always use it to fix animation issues I'd sometimes get. So I tried it and it worked for this bizarre freeze up. So yeah, seems to be animation issues with resto staff + Cyrodiil's ummm... tendency to get high latency? lol
