People were clicking on disagree for all of a persons comments, and not posting why (which they were supposed to do). This lead to a highly negative feel to some threads.
So they got rid of it.

For me,
"Awesome" - indicates amusement
"LOL" - indicates disagreement
So "LOL" should not just also be used to ridicule or show disagreement with a comment, but should only be used for such.

Instead of making it mandatory, and using simple algorithms to keep people from just being tools.
An up and down ranking system for posts can be useful, if done right. Now, we have the touchy-feely up rank only system.
