Crafting Writ Points

Is there any place to see how many you have? How do you use the points? I did the basic starter for all crafting on two characters this morning showing 1000 per craft so if these go into some account wide"pot" for any of my characters to use I should have 12,000 but I don't see them anywhere.

So confusing. Not sure what these do, how to use them or where to see my totals. Just did some writs for 20,000 each so by my count I now have 72,000 of the points.

Those are inspiration points used to level the specific craft that the writ was for.

Those are the same points you get by creating and deconstructing items to level a craft. They are immediately applied to your crafting skill when you finish a writ.

But what happens to the points if your already a master crafter?

I think this certification program best used for leveling crafts. Not for mastercrafters because not only are the inspiration points useless, the reward for turning in the quest was not worth using up voidstone mats.

Level 50 blacksmithing writ gives a survey report that gives you 5 nirnstones. I'd say that's definitely worth it.

I just had the same thing. 1 potent and 4 fortified cruxes along with 8 ores pr node.
This is definitely worth it and within short about of time crux price will drop from 15k to maybe under 5k.

Correction. The Blacksmithing Writ gives you a roughly 1 in 3 chance at receiving a survey report which might lead you to a cache of Nirncrux stones.

I believe there are three survey reports for each craft within Craglorn. I have not seen all of the survey reports so I cannot say definitively that every Blacksmithing survey report will yield Nirncrux stones.

    Hey there folks!

Just wanted to drop in and let you know that you can check the current amount of inspiration you have and the amount needed to reach the next level. To do this, head to the Skills menu (K), select Craft, then select the craft you'd like to view.

Hover your mouse over the experience bar on the right and you'll see a numerical value for your inspiration. This should give you a better idea of how much the writs are contributing to leveling your crafting skills!

Some of the quests give you a survey map as a reward, the smith one gained me several nirncrux, the enchanting one gave me a bunch of decent runes & I got 10 pinguis for free on the provisioning one. Not much use at 50 in all crafts for the inspiration but the other rewards may just prove worth the pain, just not ebery day.

@ZOS_GaryA, aren't these points pooled so that any character I have on my account can use them? Meaning since my vet is maxed on all crafting skills, any she gets are available to use on my lvl 10? I thought that is what I read, I may be wrong on that could you clarify?

No. You are confusing crafting xp (inspiration) with regular xp.

I've done 3 blacksmithing writs, 3 clothing writs and 1 woodworking writ.
Out of those 7 writs, I got 1 survey report in clothing and 1 in woodworking.
Out of those 2 survey reports, I got 0 nirncrux stones.

Nirnstones are cheap now, they used to sell for 15k, they now sell for 1k (if you get them to move at all)

After doing all tradeskill writs twice, I have got 5 survey reports. Only the blacksmith and woodworking survey reports gave me Nirnstone and only from the maps that told me to look next to a Nirnstone mine on the map (maybe that is just random, but it appears that way) 15 Nirnstone, 6 first blacksmith map, 5 from the second blacksmith map and 4 from the woodworking map, the other woodworking and the two cloth ones where miles from Nirnstone mine's on the map, so I only got resources.

They are worth doing if you are leveling a trade skill but if your maxed, I don't see the point unless you have stacks and stacks of the materials in the bank.

P.S. The Alchemy are a little buggy, if they ask you to harvest water, they update, if they ask you to harvest a plant, they sometimes do not update. I just kept dropping it until I got one that asked me to harvest water

Gary stated that the inspiration points go towards the craft. If so mine isn't working. I did the beginner writs on all six today on my lvl 10 and if it gave me 1000 inspiration points towards blacksmith I should have more than 192 unless you don't get 1000 points and they somehow convert into smaller experience points.

I got woodworking survey report rather close to nirncrux mines. But i got just wood - no nirncrux, so there might be some RNG lottery involved.
