Noob magica/spell damage question

Started playing a sorcerer with destro staff.. Some passives give u spell damage .. Does the magicka that come out of the destro. Staff do spell damage or is that just for my actual spells I cast ?

Unless they have changed it, the skills in destruction staff do spell damage and work off spell power while the light and heavy attacks of the destruction staff work off your weapon power. Is that what you were asking?

Destruction staff skills scale off "Weapon Damage" and "Max Magicka". The higher those are, the more damage your skills will do. "Spell Damage" helps your class skills, which scale off of "Spell Damage" and "Max Magicka".

Note that "Weapon Damage" is not the damage stat on your weapon. It is the stat on your character sheet. Your actual weapon you are holding is a big part of that stat, but not all of it. There are passive skills and jewelry enchantments and set bonuses and stuff like that to also increase the Weapon Damage on your character sheet.

So something like Force Shock will be more effective with higher Weapon Damage and Max Magicka. While something like Crystal Shards will be more effective with higher Spell Damage and Max Magicka.
