Wamasu

First and foremost, I am not asking for a Nerf, the game needs things that are really tough to kill. I just want to talk about them.

Note, when making this thread, I had only encountered VR Ranked Wamasu. The leveling ones are not that bad. Fun and a challenge, but not the same as the VR ranked ones.

These things are tougher than most bosses, do not take knock backs, and hit like a freight train and hits on them do not do much damage. In fact, I would say that fighting a Wamasu is like fighting a locomotive. I find myself avoiding them unless there are others around who will fight them with me.

There is even one quest where you have to get past two or three of them in cave so no sneaking past, for an intermediate stage of a quest. The final boss for this quest is a cakewalk BTW. Anyway, I just take off my armor and let them kill me then walk past them while in Purgatory until I get to the container I have to loot. Then let the last one kill me and resurrect at a Wayshrine.

You poll does not include my choice.

If it is in my way I kill it. If it is a few steps to the left or right and I mean just a few, I go around.

I remember that cave and had no problems on my Sorc. Standard Crystal/lightning + pets build.

Ya they take more work but not harder then a boss -- at least not for the character I have that has encountered them.

I expect a melee character might have more problems -- then again there are mobs my dual wield guys eat for breakfast that have given my sorc trouble.

I dont atk one when i see it , but i will kill it even alone when i must for some reason.

The thing i try to avoid at all cost , but will also kill if i really must , are trolls.

Dear god ... they take forever to die.

Harvesters for me. I love taking them in a group, but if I'm alone? No way in hell.

They have EASILY blocked/avoidable attacks. I beat them even before the massive nerf to vr enemies

I dont mind Harvesters because atleast their regen i can stop.

So the fight usually wont take forever and ever.

Ofc , i wont go out of my way to kill one either , same rule apply here , if i must , then i will kill it.

If I have to kill it to get from A to B, I kill it. If it's avoidable I avoid it. I treat it no different than every other landscape mob out there.

    Your poll is lacking.

I don't attack wamasu on sight, I usually avoid them if I can, but when it's impossible I never have a problem with fighting them. Their attacks are clearly signaled and easy to avoid. It may be a long fight, but not a very difficult one.

    Same.

The key to any of these 'hard' fights is positioning. Avoid aoe. Stay on your toes. And for enemies like harvesters, pop the bubbles.

After that, it's really just burning down hp.

I avoid them because figthing them is relatively time consuming and not rewarding, so they're not worth the effort to be bothered with.

I would say this is working as intended. Each zone has a "champion" mob that is harder than the regular mob and that at-level players would have a hard time taking on by themselves unless they are very skilled.

As others have mentioned, I don't see Wamasu as a hard fight. Might be a slightly longer fight, but not hard. The lightning attack and the sweep are both easily avoidable, you just have to deal with his common attack which is not that strong.

As some have mentioned, I have trouble with Harvesters too, they're fairly soloable on open areas... The problem with Harvesters are when they're located on small, enclosed spaces. Their regen orbs respawn almost instantly close to them, that's just stupid.

I do the same -- more work then reward ratio. I do like the fact they are hard to kill. At VR14 vs a level 40 troll, the battles takes a while to do and one only gets some meat from them. At the same level, they can be a fun chellege, but at VR14, I steam roll them. Oh well.

I kill them like butter, always have with a sorcerer, templar and dk. even the craglorn ones. I don't mind harvesters but I don't go chasing them. I kill them when they are in my way. I just use clever kiting and evasion (no bolt escape) and single target dps.

I don't like paying potions for crap loot though so I tend to avoid anything I don't have a purpose in killing. I don't like paying potions, repairs and soul gems.

The monster I run away from every time would be Giants.

Yeah, the problem with Harvesters is that popping the bubbles is frenetically tedious. In a group it works pretty well, but solo it's just putting you at the mercy of the auto targeting system and hoping for the best.

I just throw an aoe. Pops them easy enough.

A wamasu, two trolls, a harvester and three giants are having a tea party, and the party happens to be taking place right in the middle of a path you need to take to complete a main quest.

    What do you do?

Oh, and a storm atronach is serving the tea.

Game needs such elite creatures, it makes some sense of danger.
Though wamasu is probably the weakest of them anyway..

Trolls on the other hand take just forever to die, especially when you are playing S & B Templar like me with nearly inexistant dps..I avoid them unless I really need to kill them, takes me about 90 secs >.<

Though I'm still soloing 95% of world bosses and they are so much harder, especially when you are up against 2! (Whenever there are 3, it's pretty much impossible for me).

I normally avoid attacking 'animals' in-game at all costs, when I can...
But when I had to kill Wamasus, I had no problem with them...
I just switch my abilities to my single target "boss" setup and attack, same one I use when soloing world bosses...

They normally don't do any damage to me (thanks to Blazing Shield) and they go down in about ~30 secs...

But yeah, I'm with you... they're annoying to kill.

I'm still in Caldwell Silver, so I haven't still fought a Wamasu higher than VR3/4, so maybe that's the reason that I hadn't problem with them yet.

But probably the ones in Cadwell gold are tougher, right?

Strangely, my Dark Knight has no problem with them, my Sorcerer gets squished. Especially in the caves where there is limited room to move around. My Night Blade can handle them, since I went to DW on him.

I would just rather fight anything else but these, even Trolls. I like fighting Trolls, and Ogres for that matter.
