New ISP; will 6mb download speed be able to play the game?

Ghettobird52
Hey all so unfortunately at my new house we have 'AT&T u-verse" (which I've heard nothing but bad news about) and it's only rated at 6mb download speed ( don't know upload speed) will I be able to play the game? With problems or with out? I have xfjnity right now (25mb download speed) and I play flawlessly at 60-70 fps in world and 100 in dungeons/instances. Unfortunately I have no choice on my internet at my new residence as I'm moving in with a couple roommates who already have an internet subscription setup ( or else id have my xfinity transferred)

I just want to know what I should expect or if anyone has AT&T u-verse as there ISP that can chime in would be awesome!

Thanks guys

My download is horrible, dropping down to 3mb at times. It is playable, but I hit loading screens running around, and the log in takes forever.

why do you think your fps would be affected by your internet connection?

I play on 256k down 56k up and my fps is fine...

I'm stuck with AT&T U-verse out here (12 Mbps down, 1 up.) Your internet connection has nothing to do with your frame rate. That's determined by how capable your system is. If your getting 60 fps over fiber-optics, you'd get the same on dial-up.

I've rarely see more than 20 KBps needed by the game. Your only concern should be your connection latency, but I've had no issues outside of Houston. Although, you won't be able to broadcast HQ streams via twitch.

Looking at my router and computer performance logs, ESO never went about 200K on both the up/down loads, so you should be fine; note that this is strictly PVE, but I was doing an anchor with 4 other players and had no change in the up/down load speeds.

This isn't a perfect methodology, but if latency is low then you should have a smooth connection provided that the ESO server isn't having issues in PVE land. I hear there is always stuttering and jerkiest in PVP land, so talk to the other players first before suspecting it 's your ISP, or computer.

To test you latency, try this link: latency test

Once the page loads, just click on the big blue start button in the middle of the web page and watch the show. What is important to you is the latency test located on the top right radial gauge; your connection should get a rating of good or higher. The lower the number, the better the latency.

After the test, a summary of the scores will appear with tons of advertisements. Ignore ALL of the advertisement no matter how hard the urge is to do so. There is nothing wrong with you computer. all you care about is the test scores.

For a comparison my score was as follows:

    50 ms Latency
    29 Mb/s Download
    5 Md/s Upload

I just moved from Maryland to Florida, and stayed with Comcast (they suck here big time!), but according to my landlord's husband (who is a heavy gamer) that AT&T u-verse is awesome. So I guess its the region you live in makes a big difference in the quality of service you get. I had Comcast in Maryland for 20 years and they were rock solid in performance and dependability: in Florida my latency is much higher than Maryland, by 20 ms.

You need any more help let me know, and I'll do my best you help you fix any issues.

Thanks guys for your input and info! I'm not sure why I thought fps was connected to Internet speed I just thought if it was too slow it would make my game jumpy/glitchy and cause fps drops. My computer specs are

    I7-4770 CPU
    GTX 660 GPU
    8GB DDR3 1600mhz
    7200rpm hard drive

And it runs amazing with comcast.
