Guild Recruitment Roster

There are a number of ways this could be implemented. As a seperate tab in the guild window, a separate UI element, rosters hanging in major cities or a tab in the guild trader window come to mind.

What it should entail is:

- a list of all guilds and a search window to look for a specific guild or to filter the list according to selected criteria
- the possibility for guilds to describe themselves and to display if they are recruiting and what their application criteria are
- the possibility for players to apply for guild membership directly and for guilds to accept/decline/ignore applications

I believe this would greatly reduce /z guild recruitment spam.

"About Us" Character Limit

Have you ever tried writing down your guild description, rules and general information? Yeah, you don't get very far, do you?

I recommend a character limit of no less than 1'000 (unlimited would also be nice) and a little scroll bar.

Message of the Day

- Allow it to be at least the length of a chat message.
- Automatically display it upon login once after every change.

Guild Circular Letters

Please add them, they are an absolute neccessity to inform currently offline members of important news.

Going through the roster and copy pasting the letter to hundreds of people just isn't feasible.

Make it a rank permission to avoid spamming.

Interactive Guild Event Calendars

Not as high on my personal priority list, but a much requested and very basic feature.

Member Join Dates

Display them next to "last online". This would save some note-creating time for those who have a "permission x after y days in the guild" rule. Also not a top priority to me.

I realize many of these issues could be resolved by a guild website, but apart from the effort required, very few people visit them regularly - especially in casual or trade guilds.

Thanks for reading, discuss.

Message of the day at login: Only if it has changed since the last login. Make it a notification that can be turned on and off per guild.

Guild circular letters: I prefer the use of the Message of the Day as a notification upon change. I do not prefer inbox spam from guilds, warranted or not. The main reason is that a Message of the Day (hopefully) makes the guild think about what they want to say. Being able to just fire off mail any time a thought comes to mind is too much.

Event calendars: I would like to see a game-wide calendar that guilds could post to, privately (guild only) and to the public. I do fear that would get unwieldy very quickly. Having an in-game guild only calendar would not be my first solution. I think an external web page is better at that point.

All of these are common in other MMOs and work fine there. While not everyone would see them as an improvement, I honestly don't see how they could make things worse for anybody.

You gotta give me the character limit one though, there's just no reason to limit the about us page to a few sentences.
