How often can we expect new VR? - future updates

A few days before 1.4, I finally reached VR12 and was looking forward to enjoy end game. I knew from the news ofc that 1.4 and VR12-14 was just around the corner and there was no big surprise when the patch hit and I now have 2 vr to go.

I just wish that ZOS had added more content to go with the two new levels. Yes, group quests were added and Arena, but if I understand it correctly these are not really ways to level up. It would have been really nice if some more casual friendly content was added, like singleplayer storyline quest, daily quests for singleplayer in Craglorn etc.

I understand that ZOS want to emphasize group play at this stage, but at the moment I do not feel that classes are balanced enough, and not all classes/weapons can fill needed roles.
In group quests you really need tank, heal and aoe, and not singletarget dps. So who needs a non-staff-wielding nightblade in group?

So I guess my questions are:
How often can we expect patches with new veteran ranks?
And will future updates (of 1.4 size) be done in a similar way?

That's most likely the last increase before the Champion System is implemented. Once FULLY implemented veteran ranks will cease to exist

Who knows though they are crazy. I don't think anyone in their right mind would have expected them to increase vet ranks again before removing them. I wouldn't be surprised if we see one more VR increase before they scrap vet levels. It seems like the current idea is stick with the old plan to the letter even though it contradicts the future plan.

No, this is a legit question. Currently I'm saving my legendary mats to make a full set once I reach max level. I'm at a point now where I'm nervous to make the set once I hit max level because of some plans to increase the max level between now and the time ZO sets the max level to 50 and introduces the champion points.

I am not even worrying about legendary UNTIL VR is gone,. THEN I will make legendary gear. I just sold 67 legendary clothing mats because thats how much I dont care about legendary gear AT THIS POINT in the game.

They absolutely refuse to give us any details on what will happen so just save your mats. Who knows maybe VR1-VR14 gear will all be identical once they change the cap to 50 and it won't have mattered, they could also be up to VR20 before it happens.

Thanks! That gives me little motivation to level up again.
It wasnt said but they way I read between the lines future updates will be quite different than this one, maybe more content oriented? Or at least ESO will be heading in a different direction.

A little offtopic; but do you think that the champions system will add new skills/abilities? And maybe more than 5 active skills?

Id especially like more skills as an archer..

I doubt it will add more active abilities or skills. The thieves guild or dark brotherhood could add new skill lines if put in.

The Champion system from what we know is supposed to add a huge amount of passives that you purchase with Champion Points, take away Vet ranks all together, change soft caps, sets, passives, potions, food, and change the way some skills work.

Depending on what the passives are and how they work they may change the game enough to almost feel like new skills though.

Can you imagine the uproar if they increased the level cap again in a couple of months, I could see the forums exploding :D

There'd be a lot of noise. Personally, think it's more smoke than heat. There's so little difference in stats, armor, and damage, I see it as banking Champion Points for whenever that system goes live.

I hope they increase it once a month until Champion comes out.

From what they said you bank the points without the VR increase. They said they are keeping a record of all the xp you would earn even at level cap it is all goes towards your champion points.

It does not matter if they add more vr levells or not. After vr8, you get about 3 million xp each hour in hircine. 4-6 hours from vr12 to 14. So each new rank is 1 day of leveling for casuals. Not a big deal

You can be sure that the gear you craft then will be totally useless 6 weeks later too.

This is how MMOs work, you farm to lose so you can farm again.

The Champion System isn't any different to the VR, just that its not called VR.

When a new update rolls out you will have new ways of earning Champion points. It could be dungeon running, raids, daily quests, crafting, lore books ...

6 weeks later a new update comes and you earn those points there as well, rinse and repeat just like now with the VR but hopefully better balanced so that you can not just farm a world boss like now.

Don't believe the people that try to tell you that the Champion system wont require you to upgrade your gear or do stuff to improve your char with each update.
The Champion System won´t chang the game or better said progression, it only has a new name and instead of VR ranks you get passives.

They said these updates will also be like seasons, so once a new update comes out a new season starts and you change your old gear for new. The old gear might be available for 1 gold but those who always want to be on top have to join the gear treadmill just like they currently do.

In the end you will still keep farming for char improvements and gear, the char improvements however wont be levels but passives that increase your crit, the time of your pots, the outcome of crafts, your sneaking skills, the speed of your horse & char ...

Do you have a source for this?

Since skills still advance, I can believe that XP is still tracked somehow. I'd like to believe this to be true, using my char as an example, there'd be tens of millions of XP attached to my character since VR12.
