I like being a solo player

cathyshively101b14_ESO
I am not a social butterfly, nor do I rely on others to create for me the things I need in playing this game with each level I gain. I don't like grouping with others and I don't like PvP. Maybe long ago, but not anymore. I'm a loner, I like it that way. Keeps me from getting pissed off with others that do stupid things without thinking. Seems that everytime I purchase a really good game I like, it goes all out PvP or Grouping in order to get anything decent. Excuse me developers.. NOT EVERYONE is a pvp'ing groupie. Now that you've spent so much time in this area, please spend the same amount of time in the Single PvE area of the game where we too can get some decent stuff? Every danged treasure chest I come across is simple only and I'm in VR levels. Everything is simple with crap for loot.... what gives? Ok, I've ranted which I normally never do. Doesn't mean I feel better for it though.

PVP is very suitable for solo play. Just roam around the map looking for 1vsX fights and ganking opportunities. You can also play alongside a zerg without having to group with them.

indeed , it is already past the time they stop only creating group content.

This is not even PvP content , it is just PvE group content over and over with zen.

They said they would add a new solo zone , but god knows when they will finally get to it , considering how they keep adding more and more VR lvls , we solo players are already forced in grinding craglorn anyway.

Series 2 has been good so far. I do think that "Log Horizon" is better than series 1 though.

Craglorn has solo content? Newish Vet1 here and I thought it was all group stuff so I haven't tried to explore it yet. If there is solo stuff, is it suitable for Vet1?

I'm a loner, I like it that way.

I can totally understand that. Just do what I do. Join dungeon groups and then go explore on your own. Have your own adventure while the other 3 have theirs.

I would love to have one or more truly impressive, complex solo dungeons, the kinds that take days to complete... something on the order of Labyrinthian in Skyrim. The kinds with many genuinely challenging bosses, interesting and difficult puzzles, not to mention many entrances, exits, and paths through.

I find the fact that they've made some of the higher level delves larger encouraging, but how likely am I to go back, anyway? And what have they done, really, beyond adding additional loops, a room or two, and moving the skyshard? These changes improve their suitability for grinding, but don't really make them more interesting.

So far, the "interesting" new content, the places where they've really let their imaginations run wild, is group content.

And to those who say the game is already heavily PvE, well, we're done with that content, too, just like you.

Nope mate , it is all "group" content.

Ofc , if you are strong enough to fight like 4 players , then it becomes solo to a point (certain parts are locked to need 4 players).

Still , dont think a VR1 will be like that , but you can try.

Hrothgar is supposed to be all solo content. Though I'm still waiting for the area where we'll be able to group with players from other factions, as stated by Sage in http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/03/19/the-elder-scrolls-online-interview-paul-sage/ <--- that interview.

One reason I like to solo is because I want the time to delve into reading the books and such as I come across them. Becoming engrossed into to story lines etc. By doing this with a group, you get left behind or kicked from it while the rest race through it so fast you haven't a clue what your looking for, or miss what you went in there for in the first place. I'm not playing to see how fast I can level up. I'm there to enjoy it at my own pace and level when I level. I appreciate the work and talent that goes into creating a really cool game that pops and comes alive. I like the feel that I'm the only hero and such. But I'd also enjoy the awards that come with it. I fish because there are achievements to fishing. I drink in the taverns as I come to find them. I love wandering from the roads and trails to see what kind of trouble I can get myself into or out of for that matter. I touch everything. I suppose I could group in the group dungeons more than I do now. But it still brings on the problems of being left behind or kicked. Some people are just flat out fun to group with, but are far and between. Hopefully the PVP community has had enough love now where they will spend a bit more time on us solo pve'ers. It's promising.

I'm right there with you on the books! I also tend to play a lot early in the morning and I'm on the East Coast so there just flat out aren't that many people on. Solo content is important. They also need to maybe make it easier to FIND those solo dungeons. As it is I rely on my soul shard finder add-on to spot them. Maybe I'm missing something?

I know exactly what I bought and know what an MMORPG game is all about. Like I said before. Some groups can be great fun to run with when you find them. Nothing wrong with solo'ing either. It gets more promising as we go.

There hasn't been any real additions to pvp. Its mostly group pve content that has come out.
And there is no need to rush things. I took ages to lvl because I didn't want to grind. I was also enjoying the stories of some quests.
but in a game where there are thousands of people, you must accept you are not the hero. Maybe you should look for people with similar gameplay like you. I know alot of rp groups like to read, explore and take their time.
This is a social game. You don't need to be social, but that is your doing.

I couldn't agree more with cathyshively101b14_ESO Soul Shriven except for the PvP part which I love.
Having said that, I want MORE SOLO PVE, I don't like grouping with people who pull 10 mobs on you when only 2 of a group of 12 has arrived.
Or.. they just go afk when theyre the healer.. and no word spoken.

I like group play when I have the time and can find people to group with but most of the time I have to be able to walk away at short notice and I can only play this way (without annoying people) if I play solo or do delves, WBs and Dolmens in group work. I also like being able to check containers, bookcases and read notes but feel like I can't always do that when I'm in a group. I actually have to plan out when I know the servers will be full and I will have time to be able to do group content. I don't like the fact that I can't do more of the group content because it is fun but that is life.

I would like to think that ZOS recognises the change in demographic of gamers playing this game and is trying to make more soloable PvE content for us to go with the more competitive group content that it is also releasing.

Keeping everyone happy can be hard but I think they are trying with the new zones (Murkmire and Wrothgar), increasing the size of delves, the justice system and the recent additions to Craglorn, Vet Dungeons and Dragonstar.

i think @cathyshively101b14_ESO you need but wait :)

i won't go at detailing (again) just how immensely wrong the concept for ESO pre launch was..or why..or all the consequences it has brought forth, all on its own. Let alone when contrasted with the potential an online TES branch game could, should have had.

i can tell you however that they do know where the money is..there are metrics, there is communication, and there are people (above the devs) that see green, talk green, and think green to make all the relevant conclusions. Both in terms of where money can be made, content-wise, and whom from, audience-wise (age, etc)

If you combine the two, i think you can make some very very positive conclusions in regards to what is to come. Or at best, if the game stays healthy, as to where the major focus of the game's development will lie. So give it some time :)

and before the usuals drop in, do consider..

themepark with zero 1% content, and a PvP best suited to:
    1) games 10 yearsd old
    2) games like DAoC. Only, lol, this is a themepark

how well would it have sold WITHOUT a TES IP behind it? Do consider
(this in regards to my saying above how immensely wrong the concept was)

Dunno , but i can tell you.

Im almost completely sure i wouldnt even have looked at this game if not for the TES on the box , but even if for some weird reason i still did , i would have left after the first month for sure if not for the TES lore here.

To me this is nothing but a shadow filling space that would be much better occupied by the next TES game ... only problem is that we all know how long one of those takes to get ready.

There are a lot of us around like you. But when you play an MMO there are times you have to group (no not talking pvp).

Problem with what we like, it takes a little longer to code and put into game. I will ask do you like Role-playing? You may find it a good part of game to where you can be that solo hero but also find others like you that makes grouping easier (when you need a group).

But if you are looking for good people, who allow you to play the way you like but also have the support when needed. Then Grievance Guild will fit you like a glove. I joined them 6 months ago, just made member and even though I play solo majority of time they will still help me when I need it. People who are in this guild will not judge you on the way you play. Check them out, makes it a lot easier in MMORPG's when you have a little backup when you need it. :-D

Occasionally, when my character is bored, she'll got to Craglorn and solo stuff, "hunting danger beasts" she calls it, some of the 'delves' are solable too, but yeah.

It's kind of unconventional, I've just started levelling my main again in a different faction, purely because I can't get over how Cadwell's quests are done in an alternate reality or something. I have to be in as close proximity to Vvardenfell as Dunmerily possible.

I need an Ashlander motif, I need Red Mountain.

I hope that Vvardenfell will be a "solo" adventure zone with tribes I can have my character life with.

No idea what they could do with solo content really, I mean besides the obvious, something similar to Dragonstar Arena comes-to-mind, but I can't see that being possible with the existence of D-Arena. A solo adventure zone where you can acquire unique gear through building a "reputation", which is simply you doing a quest-line then spending gold to buy unique BOP gear from a vendor, or collecting materials from some-what-difficult adventures as quest items to select an item to have an npc "craft" for you. I guess similar to future gear thingy where you can buy previous season gear from a vendor, as said in quake-con.

Thank you martinbonkowskib14_ESO, it is much appreciated. Also, thank you everyone for your input. It's all really good stuff. I don't mind grouping at times and I have very much enjoyed those I have grouped with 99.9% of the time. I know I need to group on occasion. No issues with that.

And if I want to be the Hero, then by golly I will be the hero.. hehehe... I'm a woman, of course I'm right about that. (laughs)

I use to be a hardcore PVP'er but these ole hands and bones and reflexes are not what they use to be. Awareness of this fact tells me it's no longer for me, but for the younger generation. I'm not ancient, but my pvp days are pretty much over. I'll do it if I have to, even though I despise it now. And I do consider myself a very good player. I think before I do. Most times you just see those run right in and then get pissed you didn't help when they pulled 20 mobs at once.. hehehe... doh to the dead person that pulled the mobs in the first place.. heheh..

But all in all, This has been a good response to the discussion at hand. As for RP'ing. I've run into RP'ers in the taverns and a few other places and was able to blend with the RP going on. That's been really fun since I've been an RP'er since before the computer went full tech.

Anyway, enough rambling. PvP or not, I still love this game! Will check out the Guild to and see how that goes. Never hurt to be a part of fun, laid back people. As I said, I'm not out of power game, but to enjoy what's been created.

Huge monitor w/ kick butt video, graphics & surround sound ROCKS with this game. Hope to see you all kicked back drinking at the taverns.

I dont mind to group for pvp, but pve I like to do solo,
just yesterday I grouped up with PUGS to do some of the new craglorn stuff, spend hours on a delve/quest Skywatch-something (alot of the time waiting on someone without any reason why) it was all going well (although slow) the first five or so bosses without a wipe, untill we got to the final boss, lotta adds, lotta damage and we wiped a couple times, then the healer left... -_-
    whole evening wasted, totally useless
I work full days and only have a couple hours an evening to relax and game, that dont work with this forced group bs.
prettyplz let me quest alone, HAVING to do it with pug groups only causes fustration and wasted time, on my own I can do it at my own pace (alot faster) and not have to be fustrated all the time, FORCED GROUP QUESTING IS TOTAL BS

And both are supposed to come within the next three months.

The next solo area will take a bit longer, but at least it will come and you allready know, that it will come and what it is about.

    MM = Massive Multiplayer ...

The ESO world could be described as 'massive' and clearly there are multiple players (multiplayer) in it .. the 'G' in MMORPG (you don't buy an 'MMO' that acronym has no noun in it,. you need the 'G' for that) doesn't stand for group though.
