Templars...how to hit wth Biting Jabs for over 800 damage?

In PvP I keep getting hit with Biting Jabs for 400-800 damage. How are Templars hitting, with that skill, for such a high amount? I tried numerous times but my Biting Jab attacks fail greatly.

I have about 130 Spell Power and 2550 Magicka with a Resto staff equipped (added 10% damage at full health). Each Puncturing Sweep (going off memory) strike does 95-97 damage (with a total of 4 overall). The closest target takes 110% additional damage. So lets do the math...

95 x 4 = 380
380 x . 2.1 = 798

Now this is how much it does without crits, which has a chance to activate on each of the pokes (as well as a 25% chance to activate Burning Light passive on each poke as well, adding about another 260-300 damage (non-crit numbers) on each proc).

All these numbers assume 0% damage mitigation (which usually isn't the case), but still it is quite easy to reach high numbers on each cast.

I gimp my templar by not using this skill. I think all the bots running around the first month or so exclusively autofiring this skill to farm mobs ruined it for me, heh. Plus I spammed it so much until like level 20 that it burned me out. But I hear so much rage about it in forums and in /zone chat that I'll have to go retro and bring it back with my next respec. :P

Not suggesting the OP is raging at all, btw, just soliciting input. But being reminded of the potential high damage values is also prompting me to reconsider my boycott. :P

So for Biting Jabs:

How is the damage amount tallied? Is it based off max magica and spell damage or max stamina and weapon damage?

Also, how are crits scored for Biting Jabs? Is it off spell crit or weapon crit chance to go off and damage?

Would Biting Jabs benefit from INNER LIGHT skill?

Biting jabs is a magic based skill and uses magic, spell power, spell crit for damage and inner light increase spell crit chance so that should answer your question.

Its based off weapon damage and crit as well. Which ever is highest. I believe that was said 2 patches ago.

Thought Jabs was a weapon crit based attack that used magica to cast it...

Inner light does not effect it.

If so that is news to me. I don't understand how biting jabs could be a weapon damage skill, but then again this is ESO and anything azzbackwards is likely to be in play.

Targets the enemies Armor
