How to become Veteran Rank 1

Does anyone know how to become Veteran Rank 1?
I see a lot of people above Veteran Rank 5, but I didn't get even at 1. Even though I spent a lot of hours playing now.

Vet Rank 1 is level 50. Get to level 50, and you'll automatically become Vet Rank 1.

Did anyone else feel this was kind of odd, getting to level 50 and automatically becoming VR1? Especially with level 50 drops, what's the point of that, everyone would want VR1 stuff.

Sorry if my thoughts are not all together right now and this makes little sense to anyone else, I need to find more coffee.

My only problem is that yes, the gear doesn't equate the two. I had a number of glyphs that could go on items from level 40-50, but apparently can't go on Vet 1 stuff.

Yeah, I totally expected to have to go through level 50 before I made Vet 1. It was a nice surprise.

Oh don't worry, VR1 last's about 30 of the old levels (1-49). You'll have plenty of time to get and wear a full suit of VR1 stuff ;)

Had the same problem. Had stashed away a bunch of 40 to 50 glyphs for new armor when I hit 50...only to discover I could not use them as I'd gone straight to Vet 1. What's up with that?

Not really odd, but funny because it shows that the veteran system was tacked on last and they didn't really think it through. When you had level 50 items that were weaker than veteran level 1 gear. It's just funny. The level 50 items are leftovers from the original system that they didn't change.

    Just so you know:

Gear Armor and damage values are exactly the same for the lvl 50 and VR1 variations.

Enchantment values are exactly the same for lvl 50 and VR1 potencies. Exeption: Weapon enchantments. These give higher values for the VR1 potency.

Which only makes it all the more silly that they are different and incompatible glyphs and gear, made from different materials. As said above, "VR levels" were tucked on as an afterthought, and it shows in several ways.

At one time, you had to hit level 50 and complete the main quest to get the VR1 title, as I understand it.

Since the two are typically not that far apart, I think they just dropped that requirement and roll you over automatically.
