Does anyone know if there is an addon (or a setting I've missed) that displays @names while in a group? In a guild of 500 people (where @names are displayed) it tends to get confusing when joining a group with guild members. You grow to recognize their @names and then once you are in a group with them, its a guessing game trying to figure out who is who.

Hmm, not having any luck. I've found several that display character names instead of @names. Mostly formatted for guild chat, but nothing that does the opposite. I would like to see @names in group chat. Even if it were only for guild members, that would be fine.

If I find something I will post a link here in case anyone else is interested.

It would be nice if people were identified as "SomeName (@someId)".

I don't like the @Name, as my @name is rather different from my main, and people are like '@name? who the heck, oooh it's Soandso'

Would be nice to have public and private names, so people in game can refer to me by my character name

I wish @names weren't displayed at all, personally.

I don't disagree with that. In fact that would be just fine with me. But they are. And since the entire guild roster is nothing but @names, it seems strange that there isn't some way to view guild members @names while in a group with them.

@Joebob in guild chat asks for help with a dungeon. I say sure, np, I'll be happy to join ya. @Joebob sends me a group invitation and I accept it. Now all of a sudden I am in a group with Myrael, Dastardlydude, and Spiritwhisper.... so which one is @Joebob?

There are ways around it. It's not a huge deal, I was just hoping there was an addon by now that gave you the option to set it either way in other chats besides guild chat.

Oh, I totally get where you're coming from, and I completely understand wanting something that does this. : )

It's just clunky having to deal w/ at least 2 names for each person in your guild.

If you mouse over the @name in the Guild Roster, it tells you the character name of the character they are currently playing. Cumbersome, but it will let you figure out who's who.

It is a bit strange given the ultimate importance of @Names, but I have not found a way to get the @Names from the API in an add-on.
