✭YesI wouldn't say "need" but I voted yes on the grounds that I want it. It would certainly be a great thing to have so long as people aren't forced to participate. My previous suggestions on how to make it work:
- No duels in cities.
- Players must intentionally flag themselves before they can even be sent duel invites. Default is off.

But...
They have sets so we who enjoy mass PvP can enjoy it more.
It would affect me because devs have a finite time to do their work and if they are wasting time making a tedious clone game to make you happy they will not be making an exciting different game to make me happy.

because dueling is not real pvp. It is just staged combat. It's a way for pve'rs to pretend they pvp and brag endlessly about their skill.

yes exactly, that is exactly it.
I'm a NB, I use stealth to kill people. No one fights on a level playing field except in duels. Actual combat is never level, often one person will have a tactical or surprise advantage.
That is overlooking the whole "duel me!" demand anytime anyone ever disagrees with you. Which is just dumb.

1. Your title stated NEED. This is not a NEEDED feature for TESO to be a good MMO. Some people may want it for various reason and some of them I'd probably agree with. But necessary? Nope.
2. The game is NOT balanced around 1v1. Yes the game does have alot of balancing to do before its even close. What I've seen in the past is once dueling is implemented the crying starts about 1v1 balance. My templar cant beat a DK. MY DK cant beat a NB with this build. Blah blah blah. I'd rather avoid all that crying about nerf this nerf that for as long as possible. In my opinion the classes dont really need to be balanced agaisnt each other. There just has to be pros and cons to a particular class and build. Like glass cannon vs tank, to make an extreme example.
3. i'd rather some arena somewhere that it was allowed.....not cluttering up the towns with fights. That's jsut a personal preference.
4. for testing builds its really not neccessary. jsut need crash test dummies on a stick for that.

That preening is why dueling has little place in an adult game.

✭YesWhen asked about this the devs have said that once the justice system is in place many of the required systems will be in place for a dueling system to happen. So just be patient, we'll get it eventually

Paul: Dueling system sound simply but it is not very simple. There are a lot of things to consider. When the Justice system is place, maybe we can get it in place. -
