Vampires, Turn Undead and PvP

Don't get me wrong. I find vampire lore fascinating, but partly because these extremely powerful creatures are supposed to be rare. In ESO, they are nothing if not annoying, because they are everywhere, especially in Cyrodill.

Last night I think I found a solution. The turn undead morph in the fighters guild tree works wonders in group pvp, where every other player (or more) is a vamp. Usually specialized skills like this are a big turn off because you have to identify your opponent, but now that half the players in Cyrodil are vamps, there is just no need to identify anything...

I challenge all of you to try this...do you best to use turn undead next time you are in the middle of a large battle and laugh your ass off when the enemy damage all but stops for a few seconds each time you do it. Then use it again a few seconds later...and again...and again...

You can also use it at chokepoints, inside doors, to guard your stash, etc...

This and more skills were pointed in countless "nerf vampire " threads already. I'm not sure becuase I didn't test it myself but some people claimed it is bugged and not working properly.

I used this spell some time ago. But I didn't find it very practical since you basically have to stand right next to the vamp when you cast it. It would be much more useful if they'd increase the radius to 10 meters maybe.

When you see and hear bats, they are next to you. ;)

A bigger radius would be nice, but since everyone is a vamp these days, it is probably unnecessary...can't *** in Cyrodil without hitting a vamp.

It worked well for me last night, but as with everything in large battles, it can be a little hard to tell what is going on. All I know is when I dropped one of these, incoming damage stopped (or at least dropped low enough that heals kept me at full health). It happened 5-6 times in one battle and then I ran out of stamina and couldn't do it anymore and I died, along with most of the allies around me. Could be coincidence...I'll play with it more tonight.

Yeah, I tried using the skill but it's such a small radius. In the right situations in can be fun.

Silver bolts and the morphs on the other hand are pure awesome. 1 in 20 they just blow up the other 19 they face plant into the ground (unless they are running unstoppable) and you nuke them before they get back up.

One of the biggest problems when a group is attacked by vamps, is that it can be very hard to target them long enough to even get an instant skill off. Targetted skills in general seem to suffer the worst when the lag starts, so an aoe like this, despite being small, is exactly what is needed to counter these attacks.

I'm not sure the Turn Undead circle works more than once.
I've had people drop it in the middle of a 1v1 with me, and had it instantly Fear me; that worked fine.
After the initial fear, I was able to Teleport Strike the person standing in the circle without being feared a second time; I went in and out of the circle through the rest of combat even after my CC immunity was up.

It works as a fear, but it might need to be cast again after each successful fear on the target you want.

Turn Undead works well, unless they have a CC immunity, then it doesn't do anything but cap your resistances.

Which in turn does nothing because off spell penetration and armour penetration.

It only fears on the initial cast "When cast, undead and Daedra in the area take 11 Magic Damage and are feared for 4 seconds."

My understanding is that the fear only happens once when the ability is used, which is why I suggest casting it every few seconds (mixed with some heals and purges). Sometimes you might have to intentional move a little closer to the enemies before you use it like this, or just wait until they move close enough to you.

    The tooltip says:

"Creates an area of protection for 20 seconds. Nearby allies have Armor and Spell Resistance increased by 10, and an additional 10 against undead and Daedric enemies. When cast, undead and Daedra in the area take 11 Magic Damage and have fear instilled for 4 seconds."

The fear effect happens only once when the circle is cast. After you CC break or CC effect ends, you can go in and out of the circle with no effects to yourself. The opponents standing in it still get a huge boost on armor and spell res for the whole duration (20 secs)

As a pure magicka based character, I can pop immovable watch the timer and at around 1-2 sec left Im at full stamina. Of course I rarely use roll dodges if Im using immovable, i use purifying ritual and or efficent purge for talons - but still. I think im sitting at 59? stam regen.

    Edit:
my point was that if you, as a vamp, goes into a zerg WITHOUT it up its your own fault and NO fighter guild skillline, in my experience, is not the effective way to deal with vamps. Im not saying they cant be dealt with, I know I have some advantages with blazing shiled, inferno staff and vampires bane - but other classes can deal fire damage in an AoE fashion as well. The problem is you have to turn yourself into a firemachine, i've always preferred frost but Id be insane to run with that atm - wouldnt I?

Fun fact: The fear from turn undead does not proc auto CC immunity if it is not broken. You can actually move people around the map by spamming this skill

Vampire line needs a massive revamp. As you sad OP, vampires in ES lore are supposed to be rare.

In Cyrodiil, at least a good 60% of the total population is a vampire. PvP'ing in ESO feels like I'm playing witcher (without the silver sword and the awesome hair).

Vampire and werewolf needs to be a tradeoff, where you gain something significant and you lose something significant. In vampire line that is not the case. You just wear a fire resistance ring and you're pretty much good. Especially in small-group/solo playstyle, vampire is the way to go.
If that was not the case, 60% of the total pvp population would not be a vampire.

So, I played around with this tactically the last couple days, and it does seem to work when it is supposed to as far as the CC is concerned. Few things are more satisfying than bolt escaping into a group, dropping a turn undead and watching almost every member of that group lose control for a couple seconds. It works well enough that I almost always escape after doing this...

The added armor and spell resist works better than I thought it would. I almost wonder if the soft cap doesn't come into play until after spell penetration is calculated. As a VR7, I cannot normally take incoming damage from more than one opponent even as a healer, without dying. A good v12 will force me totally on the defensive until I die when I run out of mana very quickly because I'm spamming heals. However, on two occasions last night I dropped my turn undead circle and kept myself up almost indefinitely by standing in it and healing at a more reasonable pace, and I did it against multiple v12s at one point (probably not the most skilled ones but still).
