Stampede vs. Shield Bash?

I've got my Templar down to a tee, except for one active skill in my Bar 1. All my other skills are class skills/guild skills/Cyrodill skills, I just need ONE skill to fill up that space and I want it to be something that can make me cover gaps. I'm thinking about making it Stampede, which would mean I have a 2hander as my main, but I'm worried it can't really compete with Shield Bash + One hand and Shield. I'm not too fazed here about passives (I've got those covered elsewhere), just the skills on their own. What's the view?

Shield bash has stun over Stampede.
Also, 1H+Sh block passives beat 2H passives any day of the week.
2H only good for backstabbing and/or using the other skills.

In this case, I'd go for 1H+Sh.

TBH though, as things are now, I'd just slot Focused Charge and grab a Resto staff

Shield Bash ? Are you talking about Shield Charge/Invasion ?

It's hard to say which is better for you without knowing much about your build. There is not that much difference between Stampede and Invasion, the stun of Invasion being slightly better than the Immobilize of Stampede, but that's not a dealbreaker.

Generally speaking sword and board is better for magicka builds and as a Templar you got a nice variety of close(ish) range damage class skills. S&B is very popular with Temps for that reason, a typical bar would include Invasion, Puncturing Sweep, Blazing Spear, Blazing Shield and something else of your choice. The passives are argueably the best of any weapon available.

S&B does like no damage at all though, so in a stamina based build 2h looks a lot more tempting. Above all it adds an execute, which Templar lacks otherwise ( Biting Jabs serves a similar purpose, but with the changes to Punctiuring Sweep most people don't take it anymore ).
