Random Epic RP Moments

Sometimes, when wandering about in any zone, I sometimes cross paths with RP groups doing their thing. Sometimes, these groups are so well structured and creative that I can't help but stop and watch them, just because it's so interesting. As a former RP'er myself I sometimes wish I could join in, but often don't feel like it's my place to walk in uninvited.

For instance, a week or so ago I came upon a group of Orcs RP'ing as a tribe out in Glenumbra. The people involved were great writers and seemed to play their characters very well. I followed them from a distance for awhile, just watching, as I was greatly entertained by the whole thing. I don't remember any specific character names at this time, but kudos to the people who were involved in that.. I was impressed. This wasn't the first or last occasion for me for stumbling across very entertaining RP moments in this game. I think it's a great element that adds to the atmosphere significantly.

So, I figured I would start a discussion here about this. Please share any interesting/epic/humorous moments you have had when encountering an RP group unexpectedly. :)

Also, a question for RP groups themselves: How keen are you generally on random people playing along uninvited (provided they're actually attempting to participate in the RP event and not trolling or making fun of you)? I'm curious about this as if I see that the general consensus is that it's ok for people to randomly join in, I may actually feel less awkward about doing it in the future.

For discussion's sake, please keep in mind that this is not a thread to make fun of roleplayers, but to discuss interesting occurrences you may have had with one in the game.

There was a post on here a few weeks ago by a guy who tried to join in with an RP group in a tavern, and all of them put him on ignore. He seemed kind of hurt by it, which seemed to be his reason for posting.

I ran into the same thing with an RP group in Rift once. I tried to participate, but they didn't acknowledge anything I said, and they only responded to each other.

So in the only two examples I know of where an outsider tried to join an RP group, they weren't welcomed. That's not to say all RP groups are like that, but at least some are.

@letohatcheeub17_ESO, I love it when that kind of thing happens.

I don't know why, but I just really enjoy seeing all of the roleplayers while I adventure in Tamriel. For me, it adds to the atmosphere, especially when the RP is really good. It's kind of like those random encounters you'd get in Skyrim and other ES games, except in this case they aren't scripted and are being performed live in front of you by real life people.

It makes wandering around all the more interesting. I think more people should RP in this game, it's like almost the perfect setting for it.

I've been part of some neat RPs at the vampire shrine in Bangkorai.

It's especially fun when the RP is spontaneous — such as when the Dark Sisterhood was initiating new members — and several nearby vampire players became involved in our guild's RP.

@NovaSky I love spontaneous RP. I actually prefer it over scripted RP as it leads to some intense or hilarious moments at times.

Agreed. Since it was spontaneous and off the cuff, it really made it interesting to keep the RP cohesive. It worked, though, for the most part. Some of the funniest moments occurred when non-RPing players popped in and voiced confusion, since most of the non-RP players were there to simply become vampires in order to unlock the dye, or for the sneak benefit.
