I understood what you meant. Some people have knee jerk reactions to certain thing and some even go out of their way to be offended.

I was just thinking about this! It's sad that that's the case so often.

My first time in Craglorn. I go have a look around, the Red Witch is loving VR1 and we explore. Get killed in some interesting places, the massive shard for one and finally end up at a tomb. Go in have a look at the 8000 health guy and some more people show up. I'm the little guy so I wait ... and we go.

Boy that was fun. The main show is back outside and I do my cheesy healer and DPS act till we win. Hilarious and I have a white tomb in Craglorn.

I too have had issues finding a group to do some of the quests in Craglorn. I have a few left to do for achievements, but I can never seem to find anyone in that zone doing anything but grinding or trials.

I also wish they would adjust Craglorn to be more two-person friendly. Or, at the very least, make it so that people don't have to be on the same quest stage in order to group together, as this mechanic is currently making grouping in Craglorn for quests nearly impossible. As a completionist it drives me bonkers that I can't just go into Craglorn and do the regular quests there. I understand Craglorn is supposed to be group-focused content, and for the dungeons and trials I totally agree with that, but for the regular quests... come on, either make them doable solo or in groups of two, or let people join the group even if they already did the quest or are on a different stage. I'm sure there's numerous people who would be willing to group up and help people complete the quests, but they CAN'T because they already did it.

I agree with this 100%, especially the part about not being able to help others with something because you've already done it.

I think eventually they are going to have to address this issue, I just hope it won't take months upon months for them to do so.

I think Zenimax was a bit too short-sighted when it came to Craglorn. It's like they were just trying to add something new to keep the end-game people happy, and I'm sure for first month or so that it was live people had no problem finding groups for the quests. However now that the content is a few months old, all of the people who hit vet 10 shortly after the release have finished all that stuff, and the new Vet-level people coming intro Craglorn are too staggered to make it easy to put groups together where everyone has the same progression.

Well OP , i feel like you , but at the same time i understand the need for group content.

Being a solo player , i also find myself closed outside craglorn gates , personally i would not care much on some other games , but here zen didnt really add any other kind of end game but craglorn and PvP.

One can only hope they will work hard and fast on the other systems they promised on the road ahead , but even if they do , it is still some months from getting it in the game.

Since most of Craglorn is designed to be run with a 4 man group, the simple and obvious solution is for you and your wife to get 2 guildmates/friends and do the new content.
  • dylanjaygrobbelaarb16_ESO

Anyway... I do know how you feel. As a predominantly solo player I've waited with eager breath for each update. only to be disappointed by the lack (complete omission) of any solo content !

    :([/quote]

Im mostly a solo player as well. first mmo. but you guys have to respect this is an mmo not another regular TES game. need i remind you that mmo has the word multiplayer; you should expect the majority of the content to revolve around groups.
try to find a guild of people who want to solo, but need people for group content. that way you are in a community of players who need each other to complete group content. cant find one start one! you will always have trouble with pickup groups, use your 5 guild slots to join communities of players that will help each other with completing stuff.

The days where MMO = group stuff are long , long gone.

If anything ESO offers quite a bit when it comes to solo questing but lacks a lot when it comes to solo end game when compared to other MMOs on the market today.

Im willing to bet that on ESO the solo players in general are not such small part of the playerbase ,therefore i dont see why they should be neglected over the other groups at all. It doesnt matter if the game is a MMO , what matter is what exactly the current player base does and wants in the future.

The devs also appear to understand this , since they have on the road ahead the solo zone.

Again , i understand the need for group content , but i certanly dont think it is more important then solo content in this game at all.

I saw the update 4 video this morning...and I dread having to tell my wife about it.

This is an interesting position to be in, as I am fortunate enough to be married to a woman that likes to play the occasional game - but this one has been a good bit different. It would be difficult to keep her attention in past MMOs, but she's loved this one. Loved the combat and questing...but had to stop playing because..well, Craglorn.

I saw a couple of months ago that the content in the game was lacking. I dealt with it as best I could because I wanted to love the game so hard. I sit eagerly to hear any bit of news that comes out about future updates - whether it is a road ahead post or seeing the contents of a new patch. But consistently over the last two months, I get excited about a small thing then they seem to crush it. The Justice System! YES! Improved VR content! YES! Then this morning I see a video for update 4 - I clicked on that link so fast that I would have made this guy proud. And then it was 2 minutes of a sinking, heart breaking disappointment. Again.

So, I'll tell me wife tonight at dinner that ESO is coming up with a content update...to add to Craglorn.

    "Cool, and update!" She'll say.
"Are they bringing the justice or champion system?"
    "No." I'll say.
"Okay, well what about the VR content improvement? Are they adding new delves to the areas to give us a bit more to poke around in?"
    "No."
"...so it's just Craglorn. We can't even quest there because there's never a group."
"I know." - I'll say as I realize Im fortunate to even be HAVING this discussion with a woman. Just thank God she's not a PVPer. I couldn't deal with the defeat she'd have on her face.
"Okay..well, maybe in the next one they'll give us something cool to do."

And this is exactly the convo I will have. It sucks. I love that she wants to enjoy the game, but she feels just like I do in this. We keep on waiting for more to do...every month that goes by, just to find another disappointing group-pve content update.

I'm not knocking the work they have done, but I'm kinda exhausted with the constant promises given (even before launch - horse racing? Thieves Guild?) and getting no update on it. Quakecon rolls around, they throw out Justice System, VR improvement, Champion system and start talking about big changes in the updates coming soon! Then plaster UPDATE 4 - WATCH NOW! on the main page with absolutely no mention of any of that. I would have bet a paycheck one of those things would have been mentioned in that video - the Craglorn 2 announcement was about as expected as a having an alien carrying a birthday cake (6 months early) tap me on the shoulder right now.

I mean, I want to say thanks for the work you guys do put in...but....

    Ugh.

By the time anything does come out to get her excited....you will spend an entire pay check....eso sounded great but fell short...The only way to force zos to listen to customers is by not giving more money....If resub drop fast and enough I guarantee that stuff we players want will come out faster....so the best way to make this game better is to leave it....that's what I truely feel.

Is there a gaming company worse than ZOS when it comes to understanding what their player base wants? The ZOS team has some wonderful, passionate, dedicated and talented people on it; but they seem to be completely clueless when it comes to recognizing what their players want from the game.

This new region of Craglorn should contain a new very difficult trial and a new 4 player Undaunted dungeon while everything else (delves, repeatable quests, mobs, achievements, etc.) is geared/scaled for 1-2 players. Maybe throw in a world boss or two or maybe something like a burial ground or magical anomaly for group XP/VP farming. Now you have a zone that everyone can experience and enjoy unlike Deadlorn, I mean Craglorn, which is a ghost town apart from trials.

@biozeke Whats wrong with Craglorn? Those 4 man quests in there is really good IMO, especially the last one you get after completed all other quests at least one time. Both from a game mechanic point of view and from a lore point of view.

However I can agree that the group mechanics of this game sucks a bit when questing in a group. That you have to find a group that is on the same part of the quest or your screwed. But they sad they will fix that "soon™"...

I'm really looking forward to 1.4 as a player that loves group play of all kind.

TBH, I'll pass on "new exciting content" for a few weeks in exchange for some progress towards fixing some of the game's major issues.

    Bank space
    Armor effectiveness
    Balance Issues
    PVP

We currently have a game where we can "play only the way zenimax wants, regardless of class choice or equipment".

I'd like a game where I can run a 30 minute dungeon without spending 45 minutes switching between characters, selling and clearing out my inventory.

Sadly, with updates like this dropping, I don't think ESO is going to be that game. Fortunately though, there are companies out there with similar games that are focused on providing a smooth, exasperation free experience rather than trying to distract players with something "new and shiny" every few weeks.

Didn't they say that things like Justice system and Champion was coming in updates 5 and later. Being they add more every 6 weeks they aren't going to make every update as big as the Craglorn one. Most MMO's don't even add anything for 3-6 months so yeah every update is not going to be amazing. Also this update has Dragonstar and Upper Craglorn wich is the last of Craglorn before they work on Murkmire.

Yea not every update is going to be awesome, not every update is going to have things I want to take part in, or even be excited about, but with stuff rolling out every 6 to 8 weeks or sooner, there will be plenty down the road that I look forward to, I may not be thrilled about the next update but I am sure there are some folks that will be.. :)

I think this is the first MMO I've played where I haven't felt in a rush to get to the end. I find myself playing it like any other TES game. I'm not in any big hurry to reach VR on any of my characters. I'm currently working on my baby Templar. I also have a Khajiit NB and my Imperial Dragon Knight to work on too. So I don't know if I'll ever get my Sorc (currently at level 35) up to VR1 before the Champion system hits.

But I'm not in any hurry.

The next update isn't all that exciting to me. Dragonstar Arena sounds like it could be fun to do... if I ever get there. But that's alright. As long as they keep growing the game, I'm happy.

OP, are you sure your wife wouldn't be interested in pvp? I realize you don't want to see her disappointed, but dying to a player isn't the end of the world. It's such a big part of the game. Even if you just go to cyrodiil and quest, the risk of dying is much more exciting than the pve zones.
