I was thinking about wich of the eight a healer would pray to. I'm thinking about Mara. Am I wrong?

My first thought was Arkay. The diety of Life and Death probably holds domain over good health/long life. But Mara would work just fine. I imagine all would bestow healing miracles to their followers.

Arkay and Stendarr are good choices. Kynareth or Julianos are also fairly common. Mara's not a bad choice, but they'd tend to be priests first, healers second.
    Thank Stendarr it’s Fredas.

Mara is the primary deity for restoration magic when healing is concerned.

arkay's power primarily concerns dealing with the dead - things like consecration or turn undead.

Stendarr is a god of justice and vengeance, and is typically the focus when dealing with daedra and vampires.

Both Mara and Dibella can make sense, but since the OP wrote Mara I only mentioned her. :grinning:

Probably Mara, given the "Eyes of Mara" set bonus and the healing blessing in Skyrim. Second I'd say Arkay, due to the domain over life/death, which seems to go well with healers (I think his blessing gave extra health). And maybe third I'd go with Kynareth since her temple was full of healers, but she seems more like a nature-type goddess. The Fighter's Guild seems like a proto-Vigilants of Stendarr organization, what with the focus on killing daedra and undead.

Yep, I too recall that it did. Good call on the 'Eyes of Mara' set as well.

From the 8 Invocations and 16 acceptable Blasphemes found on the dedication page of the Pocket Guide to the Empire, 1st Edition:

To DIBELLA who pays Men in Moans.
To MARA who fills the Empty and drains the Stones.

    So... um... yeah. Both work.

Exactly. The only reason I mentioned Mara is because it was obviously relevant to the OP. :grinning:

    Clearly. ;)

Can't blame people for putting "that" kind of healing on Dibella though. Especially if you ever played Daggerfall and went into one of her temples. Wowzers!

But that game also gave the player catsuits, thongs and spiked bras... Did I mention that the older games could be a bit weird. ;)

Actually I believe we will all have kneel down and pray to the mighty 10% dmg bonus of the Holy Restrostaff since there are already calls from some corners to nerf it : P

That being said... Mara sounds good :)

and in many ways a better bet for your cards since she still has much power in the mundus.

The beings that gave most of their power in the creation of mundus however, like mara and arkay can only offer minor help.

that said, Meridia is focused not so much with healing, but life itself.. which is not always peaceful and can be naturally violent. To be honest, apart from her great dislike of dark beings, not much is known about her... its entirely likley that she has simply associated herself as a protector of sorts of the Mundus Design, seeing anything that goes against that design as dark. which would explain her disdain for any prince trying to take the land over, and her dislike of unnatural phenomenon.

Meridia may have been a supporter in the creation of nirn, despite not being one of the active participants. or she may have latched onto its ideals.
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

My healer in previous ES games has always been a priestess of Mara... and at least in daggerfall, like most of the priestesses, her ceremonial gear consisted of a bra and loincloth.

This time around, my healer is a Dunmer nightblade, using much of the siphon line. Mara doesn't really seem to fit.
