I would like the abbreviation to be specified as officially ESO or TESO specifically. Personally I prefer ESO but it has been rather ambiguous as to what should truly be used. The website url is ElderScrollsOnline.com but at the the page it's titled The Elder Scrolls -Online-.

The forum page header just says "THE ELDER SCROLLS online" so we know it is an Elder Scrolls game (as if we didn't) but it is usually just referred to as ESO and the single player games as TES. That is less confusing than TESO.

I dont think it should be abbreviated at all. I didn't even mean to play this game, I thought I was buying a subscription to the European Southern Observatory monthly newsletter. Very confusing.

"The" is abbreviated in "POTUS"/LotR, but I prefer ESO for online, and TES for the single players.

Well they always use TES for single player games, so this company does abbreviate the 'The', and I do remember it being TESO before launch too.

ESO is simpler, tho. the T is just so far away :P.

If I had to guess some reasons why they changed it from TESO to ESO, it would probably be be they didn't want it to be confused with a sequel to one of their roman numeral'd series, or that they themselves had their doubts about its success and made it a "Vincent" instead of giving it daddys name.

Yep, if your just searching for "eso" or"teso" using "teso" does return the most relevant info, but as soon as you add something like "eso skills" then it's fine.

TESO is also used for a Christian charity supporting the TESO region of Uganda
