Questions about the state "Hidden"

Im a nightblade duel dagger rogue. I have been wondering about the state "Hidden" for a long time now.

See when you crouch down, an eye icon will appear, and after a short period of time, the eye will be completely shut and you will enter "hidden." At this point, all your attack would be critical hit. But my question is: What if the eye is only half closed, it doesnt say detected or hidden, would this state also grant me critical hit?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but I could be wrong.

As a rogue archer, all I can tell you is that when I crouch and launch a snipe attack while the eye is still closing, I still get the hidden crit hit bonus

The reason why i bring this up is because I have foundry tactics, and as other users know that when your attack cause critical damage, foundry tactics will display a star by the number of damage you did. When im hidden, I would deal about 650 damage with ambush with the star by 650, but i notice when the eye is still closing, I can only deal about 200 damage, but there still will be a star by 200, which means I still critical damage the enemy, but how come this time i only dealt 1/3 of the damage???

some players also use the "impenetrable" trait on their armor, which can reduce critical damage(though idk if it actually works as iv seen threads saying it needs to be fixed) there are times I WAS hidden, and did not get a critical bonus. so it may be the mechanic itself giving you problems.
