Our guild is rather new to the trials party. Having waited to have enough VR 12's to attempt AA rather than pug. I just thought I would post my impressions from our initial run last night.
While I enjoyed the content itself (we made some good progress on our first night) I felt like the raid tools were severely limited/antiquated.
No mark target functionality, no ability to move groups around, no ready check feature. The fact that these features are not present within the default tools and you have to go download addons that everyone in the raid has to have is somewhat surprising in a modern mmo.
Another thing I would like to point out, and perhaps I will catch flack from the "pro" groups out there, is the soul reservoir system. Why would you include a feature like this on groups that are trying for progression? 3 wipes basically means a full disband and reset outside the door. I know of no other game I can think of that places this kind of arbitrary and artificial impediment to progression in the way of raid groups. The content and difficulty of the encounters should be the only impediment to progression.
You wanna have competition leave the soul reservoir system for your hardmode encounters when you implement them. The fact that the soul reservoir system exists coupled with the absolutely garbage quality of the items in the loot table as they currently stand means zero real replayability to your trials once they are cleared. Unless your idea of a good time is spamming zone chat selling random warlock pieces after your run.
Its a shame too because the actual encounters are fun for a semi-casual guild like ours. Heh but whatever its your vision Zeni you make it the way you want to...
