Set item and crafting mat upgrades.

Still loving the game and very much looking forward to the next patch and future updates. In that spirit of constant improvement, a couple things have occurred to me recently that I would like to put out there for ZOS and the community to consider. These both have to do specifically with the crafting system.

First, I propose we add the ability to upgrade the LEVEL of gear using level appropriate mats. Make it take the same amount of mats as it would take to craft the item new at that level. This way, you could take say a Veteran 1 "...of the Warlock" set item and upgrade it to Veteran 4 simply by choosing the option at a crafting station and using the right amount of Ironthread (for example).

It could potentially take more material if the quality level of the item was high. Say half again as much Ironthread to upgrade a blue item to Veteran 4, or twice as much for a purple, etc.

Second, I would like the ability to refine lower quality improvement items into higher quality ones. Say 5 Hemming to make one Embroidery, etc., all the way up to the legendary items. It could require enough lower level mats to be cost and rarity appropriate.

With this second option I think people would be a lot more receptive to future set bonus changes, since they would have an easier path to re-acquiring high level improvement mats (deconstructing a week's worth of green drops costs a LOT less than buying 56 legendary items for ~3k each, plus weapons).

Also, the ability to bring your favorite set items up to your current player level by upgrading them at a crafting station would give people much more freedom in appearance and build diversity, and allow the many unique and otherwise very useful set item drops to be worth more than vendor gold compared to crafted alternatives.

Hmm, both yes and no. I kind of like that you find a build or two and commit item/set wise. It's a double edged sword to do what you propose with the materials. I like the level upgrade though, so you can run with a good set build early and upgrade it as you level up.
