Sorc is very nice to tank with in early game, due to all the armor buffs. Not sure how usefull they are late game with armor generally being closer to caps.

I have a Veteran NB tank. The Siphon trees lifesteal really makes Solo content easy. And that is on top how Solo play is generally more easy as tank.
For group content the one weakness I see is the lack of a aoe. You need to at least ocassionaly hit foes to keep them on you and NB just has nothing for that.

Templar lack much obvious tanking passives/actives. But I guess selfheal is never a bad thing to have. Still training my Templar tank up.

Not truly tried a DK Tank so far. They have the most obvious tanking actives, passives and ultimate. Not sure how well those work with the Caps, however.

Nightblade! Also, nightblades do have sap essence as an AOE. It's very useful because it builds ultimate fast. You can also use the volcanic rune from the mages guild as an AOE. Or, you can swap to destro staff and impulse to draw aggro from the group of mobs, then swap back to shield.

I've tried Sorc and Nightblade as tanks, and must say i enjoyed both for different reasons. The only reason I selected Sorcerer over Nightblade was because of Crowd Control.
As a Sorc Tank, you obviously have much less "Oh S***" skills then other classes due to the lack of a reliable heal. Critical Surge (+Weapon Dmg and heals for % of crit hits) is nice, but only if you have High Crit % and usually isn't an ability I'd have slotted as a tank.
However, with a good healer this isn't an issue, and the perks of a sorc are Rune Prison and Encase among other skills.
-With Encase morphed to snare for 4 seconds on break, you have a skill that is reliable and roots multiple targets at once, similar to Talons.
-Rune Prison allows you (usually when soloing) to "mez" a mob for around 19 seconds and focus on the others, also adds a decent 3-4 second stun when effect ends if morphed for that.
-Storm Armor is great, either morph is helpful and can reach the soft cap for Armor and Spell resist while wearing light and medium armor.
-Bound armor opens up possibilities for Light Armor tanks, and can be morphed to provide even more armor (but could be debated as a waste of a Toggle slot).
-Negate Magic is a great Tank Ultimate because it stuns all CCable mobs in the area and dispels negative effects, healing you for a certain % if morphed.

The most frustrating part of a Nightblade tank was not being able to "control" those large groups, half the time i just teleport striked around to stun things ;)

I love tanking with a DK. Lots of AoE, survivability, and group buffs.
There is only one god and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: “Not today...”

"We read fantasy to find the colors again, I think. To taste strong spices and hear the songs the sirens sang. There is something old and true in fantasy that speaks to something deep within us, to the child who dreamt that one day he would hunt the forests of the night, and feast beneath the hollow hills, and find a love to last forever somewhere south of Oz and north of Shangri-La."

Templars have a ton of good tank passives and actives...

I can only tank, successfully, with my DK, my NB and Sorc do not survive long in that role. What is bad is when I have been playing with my DK, then load up my Sorc and treat her like a tank.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I've tanked as both a nightblade and a templar, both are fun but I found the Templar more effective. They have similar healing capabilities but better options for aoe and control, along with damage shields and anti caster stuff like eclipse.

Repentance as a free heal and stamina recovery is awesome too

For Templars, Aedric Spear has some nice passives. But there's just no substitute for Magma Shell.

agree even though changes to radial sweep and other skills have substatially lessen the gap none the less while having both classes DKs are still severly better tanks.
