Spell Crafting - Another Kick in the teeth to Stamina builds?

I'm going to keep this brief as I really believe the thread title says it all.

The whole system really does continue to trivialize and make stamina builds so much less viable. For the first time I think I'm going to have to really consider changing my build or simply leave the game.

The simplest way to put this across is that based on the information provided to get the most out of the system I have to invest in majicka given the way DMG scales. On top of that I have no real desire to deal in magic, its not something that really interests me as a lore element and I do not want to develop my character around magic. I like using swords, shields and bows and only wish that the system was applicable to creating skills that are physical in nature instead of magic, as the idea and system seems like a lot of fun.

Anyway, am i the only one who feels this way? Overall the panel was interesting and the direction of the champion system and updates to PVP sounds a lot of fun but this really bothered me a lot and disappointed me as i continue to feel like the choices i made to build my character are simply not valued or rewarded by ZOS.

EDIT:

I would be happy if they added an identical system called something like combat training as I think the system is good just wish it allowed me to develop physical skills.

The Champion System should have rewarded Champion Points based off of achievements and feats earned through excelling at end game content not grinding your life away vs mobs in order to stay competitive. This system is uncreative and is a great example of extremely lazy system design. Yes, you should be embarrassed

how about people stop complaining about things they dont know nothing about, and wait till the actually see what it is and how it works.

lots of things in the upcoming patches, makes stamina user finally good, with the set bonus changes and such, they even probably get to the level of dd mages do right now

My compliant was not about DPS and the viability of stamina. It was more about them adding a new system that rewards and further develops one type of play style over another. Perhaps as we learn more as you correctly point out i may see the light but given I hate using magic based skills im not sure what im going to like.

Like i said the system is awesome I just wish i could make physical skills with it as well.

LOL if you think a few extra crit percent will put a dent in the stamina/magic gap from these gear set changes.

As for the spellmaking thing, I was thinking about this earlier. The best I could come up with, there will be some sort of class-specific archetype to spells, and so you will be able to craft spells that synergize with stamina builds.

Still, it does sort of sound like stamina players getting left out again. I hope they do something creative with it, but I can't figure out how you are supposed to craft a "spell" that costs stamina.

Yeah, I just hope it was their ignorance and ill-preparedness to show more content, but they really need to do a better job when delivering content making sure all play styles get equal love, as best as possible. Spellcrafting was 99% for magika based abilities, not a single stam based was shown. I only say it wasn't 100% because lead designer did say there was a stam equivalent of dark exchange, I don't expect to use that but its SOMETHING.

More roll dodge isn't going to help the dps gap though. Maybe some sort of buff added FOR roll dodging? I don't know. I'm sure they will come up with something.

Combat training sounded like a good idea.

dps cap, will be the sets changes, if you haven't see them, u might wanna go check them out, mag user get a much needed nerf with all the crits taken out of many of the sets, and more set has weapon power to them.

I have looked at them. Magic users can actually get MORE crit by adding just 3 pieces of trials gear to their mix. (12% vs. the current 10%).

I think some people don't have ears. They clearly said that they were working on something similar for Stamina abilities.

they need to get it first though :)

and using 4 trial gear of Aether is better ;)

nvm that, I just looked we might have to sacrifce 1 Aether, to get 4 pieces of Night mother

Hold up!!! Right now most magicka based things in game are damaged based skills. The new Spellcrafting system will introduce more of those of course... but more importantly, the addition of sorely lacking utility based skills/spells will benefit a wide variety of builds, magicka and stamina based alike. Indeed, some of the spells will help you counter magicka users. Let's use the traditional ES magic spells the new system is based on as an example:
    • Demoralize: Fear.. self explanatory
    • Restore Stamina: Self explanatory
    • Muffle: Improve Stealth
    • Camouflage: Improve Stealth
    • Stun: Crowd Control
    • Dispel: Remove DoT, Debuff
    • Oakflesh: Armor/Damage shield
    • Water Walking: Move more quickly across water
    • Fire/Lightning/Ice Shield: Protect vs. Mages
    • Reflect: Protect vs. Mages
    • Absorb Health/Stam/Magicka: self explanatory
    • Conjure [whatever]: Summoned companion to help add DPS

    Go here for more: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Magic

Also, don't forget that it will let you craft new Ultimates out of any of the possibilities, which will use whichever is higher, stamina or magicka.

Look past the fact that it's "spell crafting" and it's easy to see this will be a boon to any player out there.

Yeah. More crit + more Spelldamage. There is no nerf.
But to make it clear, overall stamina based stuff gets more love with the new sets. And thats good.

I wanna see more ppl in trials running dualwield etc and do some decent dps. I will stick with my Fire DK Melee Mage though. But to mix it up it would be great to see ppl using proper steel to smash some heads in in the trials.

I hope we don't need to use a staff to cast spells that we make using Spell crafting.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

We won't.. and it will free healers up from having to use a damn staff. You can make a real shield-bearing cleric type if you want.

Didn't read through comments, and I'm sure someone has said this, but just because it's "spell" crafting doesn't mean it's useless for stamina. Why would they do that to the game? they wouldn't lol.
