Spellcrafting, spellcrafting and spellcrafting.

So after watching the quakecon stream, spellcrafting especially, I am extremely excited about it. I mean, that alone will bring ESO lightyears closer to the Elder Scrolls experience Ive always wanted to have online...and not only that, if it works the way Nick explained (my interpretation of it atleast) ESO will be the best game to be a spellcaster in for a very, very long time.

I was left with a few particular question however. How will morphs work with the spells you craft? Will there be morphs at all? And lastly...how,why and what morphs will be available to each particular spells? Is it something you can choose yourself or is that something out of our control...?

Oh and I forgot one more thing...is it a crafting skill itself...Spellcrafting...with 50 ranks and all...I wonder.

I too wondered about the morphing. But I am thinking since we will be able to craft the spells ourselves, there won't be any need for them to morph. You will already be able to select how powerful the spell will be (based on the quality of stone you use) and what type of effect it will have (AOE, Ultimate, etc) so I don't know why it would even need to be morphed.

I noticed they never mentioned if it will be a crafting system with the need to spend skill points. The interface looked a lot like enchanting, but is it a craft, or simply a subsystem like armor dying that everyone will be able to do with the appropriate mage guild levels?

I also wonder if we have to use a skill point to learn the spell we craft/buy. I doubt, though.

    Hmm,

I don't know it and can only guess but the system looks as following right now to me.

    1. Cast the "mage light" spell and find a tomb
    2. Reach the end of the tomb and make a transcript of the symbols from the tablet, this then lands in your spellbook.
    3. Do this until you have found every tablet for the specific spell
    4. Go to the NPC and select the spell and "morph" it, by using the available options (Ultimate, AOE...)
    5. The spell is now craft and can be used by your char or traded to someone else.
    6. By using a new spell school like alteration, you also get a new skill line with I assume new skills.

Personally I would assume that we need ingredients for the crafting process, after all the whole crafting system works like that. Similar to enchanting with the runes, after all we have 3 possible "morphs" for each spell.

I dnt think we morph, i think it works like this, find a fire tablet, add and aoe or cast and or knock back or dot ect, they will rank up in power based on the quality of the tablet or what its made out of, stone is basic, marble is best quality and gives it more power? Or maybe as you upgrade the material u can adds more effects? I imagine

They mentioned that the morph is the effect you give the spell. So if you use AoE on the Lightning spell, you get a chain lightning attack. If you use... (I forgot the other morphs, there were 6 or so, so this is a totally hypothetical answer and might not be an actual thing) a range morph, it increases the range of your lightning attack, etc.

Then the quality of your tablet increases the power and cost of your spell.

I have a question too: Who's gonna bother with weapon skills after spellcrafting? They're almost not worth it as it is.

I don't think skill points will be needed. Players need to go out in the world and discover all the runes and pieces to complete parts of spells, then you can trade them or learn it. Guessing whole new system is coming in and nothing like a tree.

I cannot wait til I can use the restoration skill line for healing and cast aside my staff in favor of a shield/mace combo.
