I am sure most of you know I have been a big ZoS apologist and a big fan of what they have been doing but this is beyond messed up.

"Carbine is celebrating WildStar's first month "by giving you something unique, and... gross." If you've applied a retail key to your account as of today, you'll be receiving an account-level Facesnuggler reward item tomorrow!"
ESO gives players who pay half price for the game a free pet on steam and basically does nothing for those of us who have payed to beta test there game.

To bad Carbine couldn't of rewarded their players with a good game...
I think they would of enjoyed that more then a facehugger

The reason i never left ESO is because i thought being a paying customer at all times would prevent me from losing stuff like this dog.
If im gonna lose it anyway , might just unsub now and wait an year to resub.

Dork, you get a few dollars, then go play TF2 MVM, I've made 250$ selling australium guns, buy a few more tickets/ buy some steam games, and keep doing more MVM, My point is free money on the side doesnt hurt, and the cards wont be for 7 cents only, you also get a chance at a foil card that alone sells up to a 1.00$ or up
The dog thing bites, yes.. but it's not uncommon for games to offer an incentive to late adopters. A lot of MMOs have special pets that were only available for a certain version, or if you bought the game during a certain time period. So, while the dog things sucks, I also get it from the marketing perspective.
That being said, it's also pretty common to have "Veteran rewards" for players that have stayed subscribed for a certain period of time. At least, it's common for larger titles to do something like that. Usually it's just titles and pets, but it's something. I do wish ESO would implement something like that if they're going to be providing late adopters with pets too. That way both crowds get something.

I have personally never seen an MMO do that without a way for other players to get it somehow even if it is during a short time period.
Rift tried to do this exact same thing and the backlash was so strong that they ended up offering the mount and pet bundle upgrade for a very small fee. It was still cheesy but they still had the option.
I'm not saying you are wrong, i'm just saying what I have seen.
In mmos I have noticed its generally OK to grandfather things but its usually a good idea to release items that your current player base is unable to get.
Playing EQ for years, WoW, Rift, and some others I haven't seen this happen. I have seen it attempted in rift but they went back on it.
Again that doesn't mean it hasn't happened I just haven't seen it personally and it doesn't make it right or wise.

Didn't say I agreed with it, just saying I recognized why they'd do it. I wasn't aware Rift went back on it when they had, and I know FFXIV:ARR has done it as well. I was pretty sure WoW had with some of the later expansion bundles, but I haven't really played it for years. It never sits well with me when it it happens, but it's also not really that important as long as it's just the one item (to me anyway).
Rift, and FFXIV though, also offer the whole veteran rewards bit. Which sort of cushions it. The way ESO is currently doing things they are just rewarding those who are late adopters, but not rewarding folks who have been long time customers. That should probably change.

I didn't know FFXIV did late adopter stuff. Most likely because they have veteran rewards who knows.
Rift tried to give out a spider mount to late adopters and the backlash was so loud they offered the pet for 10 dollars instead.
Cheesy but its better than saying you can never get it.

Square did give away stuff for people who bought things like CD's and books. They gave Legacy players $5 off a month. Told legacy players that one of the mounts was only going to be available to them then 2 months later brought out a slightly different version of the same mount for people who had just started. They also had mounts and pets for people who bought the special edition.
