Hi, Everyone.
I'd like to share a suggestion I made in the french side of the forum with you, too, to maximize the chance that a green and benevolent spirit will maybe sees it.
Most of us are aware of this game's craft problems. Indeed, the crafting system is awesome, but fail to be usefull.
I'll Illustrate the problem that would be solved by my little suggestion with a little story.
Here, you see Minsc .. Minsc just reached V12, and is quite happy about it. He then looks at his stuff and see that he is mostly clad in green and blue. So, he think a little, and say :
"No worries ! I have like, 20-30 unspent skill points, cause there are so many ! I'll just begin a new career as a blacksmith, and forge my end-game equipement !"
So, our good friend Minsc go to the nearest crafting station and begin to deconstruct all the v12 gear he keeps dropping during his adventures in Craglorn and Cyrodiil (and bow, he have many of those !).
"Incredible ! " says Minsc, overjoyed "deconstructing v12 equipment nets me so many inspiration, that the 25-30 first levels of smithing felt like a breeze !"
Yes, indeed, brave Minsc .. you're able to become a master (40) blacksmith with minimal effort.
"But Minsc", everyone said, "that's not fair ! See poor Korgan, here !"
Indeed, Korgan likes to craft .. and he started his blacksmith career as soon as he started his adventurer's one. Slowly, little by little, he deconstructed every little thing he would stumble upon before finally, with two pints of sweat, three gallons of blood, and four bags of gold, became the master blacksmith he is today.
So .. what can be done about it?
Simple : Preventing a crafter for gaining ANY inspiration when deconstructing an item his crafting level wouldn't allow him to craft ! (IE : a smith that's only able to work with iron would gain no inspiration when deconstructing steel or higher .. only would he gain the mats)
What would be the benefits of this system?
1) A veteran player starting a crafting career could no nore deconstruct veteran gear for easy level. He'd have two choice : farming low level zones for equipment (tedious, some will do that, but more will not have the patience) or ... going to low level zone and asking low levels crafter to craft low level gear for them ! And that means that a whole new market will be created, allowing the veteran players to spend all their once useless gold, and allowing low level players to actually sell the gear they made and get richer in the process .. thus, giving a little but needed boost to the economy.
2) Becoming a master crafter would require the same amount of efforts, be you a lowly peon or a mighty lord when you start your new career. Wich would bring fairness.
3) Not really a benefit, but worth mentioning. it's incredibely easy to implement. Just a test for the item's material against the skill level of the crafter before giving inspiration. Just a small nudge in the right direction that would, I think, change the craft as we know it.
There, I'm finished. Thanks to all of those that stayed to the end. I apologize for any grammar error I might have made. i'm french, and English is not my native langage.
