Framerate Issues STILL NOT RESOLVED - Mac Player

I think it's safe to say that this game was rendered unplayable for most players with patch 1.2.3. There were a few days where things seemed to return to a somewhat normal and playable state (FPS above 20) - only to return to a 5FPS slideshow any time other players were around.

With the latest 'FPS Fix' now I cannot get anything above 15FPS anywhere in the game at any time of the day, on low settings, no shadows, all effects off, and even when scaled down to 1280x720. Before this series of patches I was getting 40+ consistently in all areas.

Zenimax have proclaimed that the FPS issue is resolved. What worries me is that from what I'm reading in the forums the fix has actually WORKED for a lot of people, while I am now forced to stutter along at 15FPS, dying constantly from unseen attackers and delayed movements/skills.

To me this is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE for a game that I'm paying for to perform like this for so long and I really wish Zenimax would give more information on what is CAUSING these issues so maybe we can troubleshoot - which seems to be what I spend the majority of my time doing with this game.

I cannot play the game currently and have not been able to have an acceptable gameplay session since 1.2.3 several weeks ago. Is anyone else still experiencing this FPS issue? Have you been able to tweak any settings to resolve it?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here! :#

frames are back to being acceptable to me though still lower then they were pre-patch.

    Some suggestions:

    1) make sure you have your video drivers up-to-date
    a. going into your video card's control panel and ensure the global and/or program settings seem right

    2) make sure your sound card's driver is up-to-date

    3) going into your eso folder (for me its documents/elder scrolls online/live) and delete both the shadercache.cooked and usersettings.

    4) if running a non SSD HD, consider running the windows utility disk cleanup as well as do a defrag

    5) ensure you have no memory conflicts with anti-virus software and/or any other non-essential background task

    6) if running any add-ons, be sure they are all up-to-date. any add-ons not up-to-date, de-select them and see if that makes any difference.

    7) last resort, consider doing a complete un-install of ESO and a clean re-install.
To make ESO look and feel like a PC MMO check out the following:

Mac player here. The frame rate issues are definitely resolved for me. 30 fps in the worst of Cyrodiil situations. 40-60 fps just about everywhere else. I have everything at its highest setting and I'm running 2560x1440.

I'd suggest disabling all addons and playing for a while to see if it makes a difference. I suspect addons as the source of many of the fps issues.

Thanks guys - I've tried most of the above suggestions many times and nothing seems to help. Aside from a fresh install, which I have done in the past shortly after launch, I'm not sure what to do.

I log in and the animation on the character select screen is choppy, where it usually is nice and smooth. In game it's the same thing - 15FPS at best. No add-ons enabled, deleted the user settings and ShaderCache files, medium graphic settings, all looks nominal on my CPU and GPU.

If I exit fullscreen and resize the game window to about half the size, then I see an increase to about 25FPS. While the game is running in the background, all my other apps experience the same choppiness.

Customer service is completely out to lunch as I have submitted several tickets in the past few weeks with NO response at all.

I just don't understand how I can be running at a steady 40FPS one day, and then a patch comes out and now I can't get above 20. Didn't change any settings on my computer, the game just stopped working properly - and I'm not the only one this issue has effected.

Put in for a callback, I never get any responses unless I go that route.

Hello there, @davedesigns‌. We have moved your thread to the Customer Support forum. After looking into your tickets, it appears that your communications to us about this issue have been in the form of /bug reports. We'd like make sure that you (and everyone else) knows that using /help in game or submitting a ticket at https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/ask/ on our website are the best ways to contact our Customer Support Team.

Using /bug will log the issue (and is very helpful for the devs, so they can fix issues more quickly), but will not open a ticket for further assistance. To help make things as quick as possible, we have opened a ticket for you and a member of our team will be in contact with you as soon as possible.

Addons might be the issue, especially if they start getting outdated or not upgraded up to date or just not compatible with the game anymore after a patch rendering it useless.

The fps issue for some of us on pc-side is not yet fixed also. The hotfix helped some of us but not all. And reaching out to cs is no use the only answear you get, it is on your side. My computer obviously past best Before date with patch 1.2.3 and it is to them my problem. Went from 60 prepatch to 8-30 post patch.
And that with no addons at all. And yes all is up-to-date and all suggested fixes tried

I'm also on Mac and still really struggling with the same problem. FPS drops and stutters are a complete nightmare, even worse in towns and busy areas going below 15 FPS.

I tried a few suggestions from Customer Support a few days ago and heard yesterday that they were sending up my issue for more specialised investigation. Really hoping I'll hear something soon.

The strange thing is sometimes the game works great! There have been maybe 2 or 3 nights during this whole patch debacle that it ran SO good, I thought I was dreaming.

FPS was above 30 at all times even in big PvP battles, and I could see all the players around me moving smoothly instead of jumping around every couple seconds. All skills and movements reacted as expected. Combat was responsive and the game was actually FUN again!

Just wish they could figure this out already because my game time is quickly running down!!!

Wow it must be wonderful to have your faith restored that easily. Seeing how the game has been screwed up since 1.2.3 and you are one of many reporting this, where is the fix? They have yet to fix it and because a lot of people will settle for "less" than what is actually "right" they will go about their merry way while taking our $$$.

By the way, this is yesterday near Roe. Prior to 1.2.3 I would pull at least 60fps in massive zerg fights.

Funny... how I drop below 15 now.
It's been a month now. @ZOS_MichelleA‌ where is the gametime compensation for the last few weeks? You really expect us to continue subscribing when we can't even play? I cancelled.

I have posted and posted information, screenshots, etc, all showing proof of how wrecked things are so you can get off your asses and fix it. Clearly the fanboys are happy with "less", however "less" just doesn't work for me as my screenshots show.
I got killed in pvp, nerf everything...

Yeah I'm still not too happy about the whole thing. 24 hours later and customer service has not contacted me.

Let me just try to log in now.

Well what do you know? - same 14 FPS that I have had for a month.

Did not change any settings on my computer prior to or after patch 1.2.3 - since then gameplay has been a complete nightmare!

Yesterday evening the game played somewhat better, with improved frame rates and more responsive skills in Cyrodiil. However enemy players were slow to load on screen and I would frequently see my team mates battling invisible enemies, so it was better but definitely not fixed yet.

Tonight it's the same old story of low FPS (I'm talking like 10 and lower). I'm just giving up for now because this is some serious BS.

Customer service STILL has not contacted me. Probably too busy at QuakeCon to care...

Hey guys check out this other thread I started -

    Mac Low FPS Solution!?!?

It shows how to reset SMC and PRAM on Mac and it seemed to improve my FPS noticeably. Not sure if there is a similar solution for PC but would be interested to hear your thoughts on this!

OP didn't mention hardware specifications. Hard to judge. OP could be trying to play this on a second-generation integrated chipset for all I know. Or a laptop graphics card which is under-geared for the task.
